Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange Reveals Real Intentions Behind The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been seeking refuge for close to three years inside Ecuador’s Embassy in London where he has political asylum. Facing both investigations in Sweden and the US, he claims that he is doing well despite his circumstances.

Assange is wanted in Sweden for questioning on claims of sexual misconduct, however no charges have been formally filed against him. In the US, a secret grand jury is investigating him for his role in publishing a collection of leaked documents regarding the Iraq and Afghanistan wars as well as state department modes of communication known as cables.

And despite Assange’s asylum, WikiLeaks continues to disclose documents from leaked drafts of the British nuclear submarine whistleblower William McNeilly, and hidden information about a European union plan that seeks to use military force in order to curb the influx of migrants from Libya. Of the latter, WikiLeaks said, “The documents lay out a military operation against cross-Mediterranean refugee transport networks and infrastructure. It details plans to conduct military operations to destroy boats used for transporting migrants and refugees in Libyan territory, thereby preventing them from reaching Europe.”

WikiLeaks has also published leaked chapters of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which is a secretive trade agreement among twelve Pacific Rim countries, including the United States. It would allow them to cover 40 percent of the global economy. The agreement was reached just this past October, after seven years of negotiations.

But as these matters of economic concern continue to be negotiated amongst the countries, details continue to be hidden from the public while WikiLeaks discloses information, like the “Investment Chapter,” which discusses the US negotiators’ motive to allow corporations to sue governments if their laws disrupt future profits a company has declared. Assange says the plan could “chill” the approval of health and environmental administrations.

Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! sat down at the Edcuadorean Embassy in London for an exclusive interview with Assange to discuss the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the US debate of what WikiLeaks has revealed concerning the treaty.

“It is very well guarded from the press and the majority of people and even from congressmen. But 600 U.S. companies are part of the process and have been given access to various parts of the TPP,” Assange says of the partnership. “Essentially, every aspect of the modern economy, even banking services, are in the TPP.

And so, that is erecting and embedding new, ultramodern neoliberal structure in U.S. law and in the laws of the other countries that are participating, and is putting it in a treaty form. And by putting it in a treaty form, that means—with 14 countries involved, means it’s very, very hard to overturn.”

To provide an example of how corporations can sue governments, Assange provides this example:

What if the government or a state government decides it wants to build a hospital somewhere, and there’s a private hospital, has been erected nearby? Well, the TPP gives the constructor of the private hospital the right to sue the government over the expected—the loss in expected future profits. This is expected future profits. This is not an actual loss that has been sustained, where there’s desire to be compensated; this is a claim about the future.

And to put this idea into practice, he discusses how similar measures have already been taken to affect environmental and health regulation laws, including in Togo, Australia, and Uruguay, which are all being sued by tobacco companies in order to keep health warnings off of cigarette packages. “Maybe the government is too powerful, and companies should have a right to sue the government under various circumstances. But it’s only multinationals that get this right,” Assange says. “Now, it’s not so easy to get up these cases and win them. However, the chilling effect, the concern that there might be such a case, is severe. Each one of these cases, on average, governments spend more than $10 million for each case, to defend it, even successfully. So, if you have, you know, a city council or a state considering legislation, and then there’s a threat from one of these multinationals about expected future profits, they know that even if they have the law on their side, even if this TPP is on their side, they can expect to suffer.”

Oil and gas sector a derivatives time bomb
The cascade of write-downs, defaults and bankruptcies now sweeping the oil and gas sector worldwide is well on the way to triggering the final, deadly implosion of the London/Wall Street-centred financial system. Like the smaller, 2007-08 mortgage debt bubble, the threat lies in the derivatives trades that are many times the value of the oil debts they are betting on, which are increasingly worthless.

Explaining the collapse in European bank stocks this year, including falls of 37 and 34 per cent in the stocks of Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse respectively, Matthew Lynn reported in the 8 February London Telegraph, “Collapsing oil and commodity prices are starting to seep into the financial system, much as collapsing house prices did in 2008. The big oil and mining conglomerates have massive debts, and so do the smaller oil explorers. Hedging contracts [derivatives] on commodity prices are scattered throughout the financial system, and enormous losses may start to crystallise in the next few months.”

A swathe of smaller US exploration and production companies—42 players in the so-called shale gas “fracking boom”—already went bankrupt in 2015, with combined debts of US$17 billion. Now, bigger fish are beginning to fry. Oklahoma-based natural gas company SandRidge Energy was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange in January, laid off 440 of its 1,157 employees on 3 February, and will file for bankruptcy unless it can restructure its US$4 billion debt, which is doubtful. Large mining and energy company Freeport-McMoRan, one of the world’s biggest producers of gold and copper, had its credit rating slashed four levels—well into “junk” status—by ratings agency Moody’s, casting doubt on its ability to continue to roll over its debts.

In Australia, Woodside Petroleum has announced that it will write down the value of its assets by US$1–1.2 billion, in part due to a six-month delay to the Wheatstone liquefied natural gas export terminal in WA. Supplier and retailer AGL announced last week that gas extraction will “no longer be a core business for the company” and that it will sell its Queensland gas wells, abandon a 300-well project in New South Wales, and write down $795 million. Even BHP Billiton has seen its credit rating at Standard & Poor’s cut by one notch, with a second cut almost assured when it releases its fourth quarter 2015 report on 23 February, thanks to a multi-billion dollar write-down of its US shale assets late last year.

Major oil refiners are also suffering. Chevron, the second largest US oil company, lost US$588 million in the last quarter of 2015, and has had its credit rating cut at S&P; BP lost US$5.2 billion in 2015, its worst ever annual result; and Shell has announced that it will sell US$10 billion worth of assets, after its annual profits collapsed by 87 per cent. The Dallas, Texas branch of the US Federal Reserve described the results of its January 2016 survey of industrial conditions as an “oil depression” in every aspect equal to or worse than that of 2009, while oil industry news sites and blog posts galore are calling it a replay of the 1986 crash, only bigger. According to the US Energy Information Administration’s second quarter 2015 figures, when oil was almost twice its present price, debt service already swallowed more than 80 per cent of US onshore oil producers’ cash flow, and S&P data suggests that one third of all oil-related companies on its international listings will not earn enough this year to service their debts. With that in mind, it is worth noting that Citigroup, in its fourth quarter 2015 report, has already recorded a 32 per cent increase in non-performing corporate loans, and that several Wall Street banks are between them setting aside billions of dollars of “loan loss” reserves.

Derivatives the real danger

Just as in the US sub-prime mortgage crash of 2008, it is the major international banks’ trillions of dollars of derivative gambling that will turn an oil-led “depression” into a global catastrophe. In a 4 February Business Spectator article headlined “A derivative dilemma for the banks”, Victoria Thieberger cited Louis-Vincent Gave of Gavekal Economics who questions the banks’ claims that they are not overly exposed to the collapse in the oil industry. Gave admits in his recent report “Red Herrings, Margin Calls And Heart Attacks” that analysts—himself included—have been “looking in the wrong place to understand banks’ commodities exposures”, and asks, “Perhaps what matters is not the banks’ direct loan exposure to the sector, but instead their exposure to commodity-related derivatives?”

“In any derivatives transaction”, Thieberger explains, “one side of the deal is long and the other party is short. But the prospective rise of bankruptcies among commodity companies increases the chances that some players will not fulfil their derivatives commitments, triggering a potentially ‘catastrophic’ repercussion through the chain of derivatives holders.

“Recall that the initial trigger for the global financial crisis was about $US500bn worth of losses on US mortgages. Gave cites figures [showing] that through the magnifying effects of derivatives markets, that wiped some $US7 trillion from global GDP and $US28 trillion from global equity markets.” (Emphasis added.)

View the US$5.4 trillion “alternative energy sector” debt, mainly associated with the US fracking boom, through the “magnifying effects of derivatives” and you begin to see the scale of calamity soon to befall the world’s financial institutions.

The truth is that no amount of emergency loans, bail-outs or bail-ins can prop up the more than $2 quadrillion global debt and derivatives casino. It must be shut down, immediately, along with the banks that have created it, before it collapses—and drags the whole world down with it. Governments, not central banks, must take this action, beginning with a full Glass-Steagall separation of banking from derivatives gambling.

He did extensive research on this matter and the results were astounding. After 5 years of researching vaccinations Dave and I have decided not to vaccinate our children (none of our 3 kids get vaccinated). After meeting 3 different families with children who were born healthy and at their 6 month old cocktail of vaccinations became impaired, we decided that we would not risk the health of our children. It is our duty as parents to research what is the best for our children and their health. After all you have been entrusted with them and for lack of understanding about what vaccines really contain and how it affects the human…

300 Scientists Tell Chairman of the House Science Committee: ‘we want NOAA to adhere to law of the Data Quality Act’

The changing of past recorded data is obvious and blatant.
They are cheating and it is obvious why – their science does not stack up!
The current chill in the tropics will need a big reduction in number of temperature measuring sites in that area, to keep their charade “alive”.
In any case, what does it matter? The political attack on our industrialized countries will not cease, because it is already independent from any climate science, valid or not.
Actual global temperature, regardless of measurement accuracy and dishonest data processing, is substantially independent from CO2 levels.
Carbon controls will therefore not affect global temperatures in any significant way.
The UN driven agenda will be maintained no matter how much valid science is ‘thrown into the ring’, unfortunately.

“Zika Outbreak Epicenter in Same Area Where GM Mosquitoes Were Released in 2015”

(ANTIMEDIA)U.S.A. — The World Health Organization announced it will convene an Emergency Committee under International Health Regulations on Monday, February 1, concerning the Zika virus ‘explosive’ spread throughout the Americas. The virus reportedly has the potential to reach pandemic proportions — possibly around the globe. But understandingwhy this outbreak happened is vital to curbing it. As the WHO statement said:

“A causal relationship between Zika virus infection and birth malformations and neurological syndromes … is strongly suspected. [These links] have rapidly changed the risk profile of Zika, from a mild threat to one of alarming proportions.

“WHO is deeply concerned about this rapidly evolving situation for 4 main reasons: the possible association of infection with birth malformations and neurological syndromes; the potential for further international spread given the wide geographical distribution of the mosquito vector; the lack of population immunity in newly affected areas; and the absence of vaccines, specific treatments, and rapid diagnostic tests […]

“The level of concern is high, as is the level of uncertainty.”

Zika seemingly exploded out of nowhere. Though it was first discovered in 1947, cases only sporadically occurred throughout Africa and southern Asia. In 2007, the first case was reported in the Pacific. In 2013, a smattering of small outbreaks and individual cases were officially documented in Africa and the western Pacific. They also began showing up in the Americas. In May 2015, Brazil reported its first case of Zika virus — and the situation changed dramatically.

Brazil is now considered the epicenter of the Zika outbreak, which coincides with at least 4,000 reports of babies born with microcephaly just since October.

When examining a rapidly expanding potential pandemic, it’s necessary to leave no stone unturned so possible solutions, as well as future prevention, will be as effective as possible. In that vein, there was another significant development in 2015.

Oxitec first unveiled its large-scale, genetically-modified mosquito farm in Brazil in July 2012, with the goal of reducing “the incidence of dengue fever,” as The Disease Daily reported. Dengue fever is spread by the same Aedes mosquitoes which spread the Zika virus — and though they “cannot fly more than 400 meters,” WHO stated, “it may inadvertently be transported by humans from one place to another.” By July 2015, shortly after the GM mosquitoes were first released into the wild in Juazeiro, Brazil, Oxitec proudly announced they had “successfully controlled the Aedes aegypti mosquito that spreads dengue fever, chikungunya and zika virus, by reducing the target population by more than 90%.”

Though that might sound like an astounding success — and, arguably, it was — there is an alarming possibility to consider.

Nature, as one Redditor keenly pointed out, finds a way — and the effort to control dengue, zika, and other viruses, appears to have backfired dramatically.

Just a few problems with the GE mosquitos, though.

A town in Brazil has reported continuing elevated levels of dengue fever since the GE (genetically engineered) mosquitoes have been introduced to combat that disease.

The scientific hypothesis is: the trickster GE bugs (males) will impregnate natural females, but no actual next generation will occur beyond the larval stage. However, this plummeting birth rate in mosquitoes is the only “proof” that the grand experiment is safe. No long-term health studies have been done—this is a mirror of what happened when GMO crops were introduced: no science, just bland assurances.

Needless to say, without extensive lab testing, there is no way to tell what these GE mosquitoes are actually harboring, in addition to what researchers claim. That’s a major red flag.

Wherever these GE mosquitoes have been introduced, or are about to be introduced, the human populations have not been consulted for their permission. It’s all being done by government and corporate edict. It’s human experimentation on a grand scale.

There are concerns that, if indeed the dengue-carrying mosquitos are actually wiped out, the vacuum may be filled by another dengue carrier, the Asian Tiger Mosquito—which breeds much faster.

Other than that, everything is perfect. Let’s have a big parade and welcome genetically-engineered mosquitos to planet Earth.

Back to the Zika virus: what actually is causing mothers to give birth to babies with very small heads and impaired brains? If this is indeed a fairly recent phenomenon, I would start with a deep and very specific investigation of the genetically engineered mosquitos that were recently released in Brazil to decimate the dengue-fever mosquitos.

Then I would pay attention to a report like this (Rio Times, 5/5/15, “Brazil Shown to Be Largest Global Consumer of Pesticides”):

“The use of pesticides in Brazil grew by more than 162 percent from 2000 to 2012, according to the latest report by the Brazilian Association of Collective Health (ABRASCO), making the country the number one consumer of pesticides in the world. According to the entity, the Brazilian agriculture sector purchased more than 823,000 tons of pesticides in 2012.”

“The ABRASCO report, titled ‘An Alert of the Impacts of Pesticides on Health’, was released last week in Rio de Janeiro. The report includes scientific studies including data from the National Cancer Institute that shows a direct link between the use of pesticides and health problems.”

A quote inside the report:

“Not only are we using more [pesticides] but we are using more powerful, stronger pesticides. We have been forced to import pesticides which were not even allowed in Brazil to combat pests which attacked GM soybean and cotton plants…”

“…22 of the fifty main active ingredients used in pesticides in Brazil today have been banned in most other countries. “

Global warming hoax: 2015 not so warm

The claim that 2015 was the warmest year in recorded history has no scientific basis. On 20 January, NASA and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) trumpeted that “2015 was the warmest year ever recorded on Earth, and it was not even close.” The cherrypicked and statistically altered data released to support this statement contradicts the official satellite temperature record, which identifies 1998 as the warmest year since this dataset commenced in December 1978. The second-warmest year was 2010, and 2015 only ranked as the third-warmest year since 1979.

The NASA team found that globally averaged temperatures in 2015 were 0.87 degrees Celsius above the norm (defined as a 1951–80 base period). However, the Remote Sensing Systems official satellite dataset for the temperature of the lower troposphere—the accuracy of which NASA in 1997 attested to on its own website—shows that 2015 was only 0.25 °C warmer than the 1979–2015 average, and the warmest year, 1998 was just 0.81 °C warmer than the coolest year of 1985.

In any case, why are we diverting billions of dollars of precious resources over a fraction of one degree Celsius? What species would notice the difference, when temperatures between night and day, let alone between the seasons, change umpteen-fold this fraction of one degree? Thousands of scientists are asking questions such as this, but the establishment media blacks them out.

Following NASA and NOAA’s announcement, prominent scientist Dr Richard Lindzen, an emeritus Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at MIT, told the Climate Depot website: “Frankly, I feel it is proof of dishonesty to argue about things like small fluctuations in temperature or the sign of a trend. Why lend credibility to this dishonesty?”

Climatologist and former NASA scientist Dr Roy Spencer likewise exposed the hoax. On his website on 22 January he explained his experience at NASA: “I was told what I could and couldn’t say to Congress… [global warming alarmist] Jim Hansen got to say whatever he wanted. I grew tired of it, and resigned.” Dr Spencer also noted that raw temperature data is homogenised (statistically altered) and “forces good data to match bad data”, adding “[t]hat the raw data has serious spurious warming effects is easy to demonstrate … and has been for the last 50 years in the peer-reviewed literature … why is it not yet explicitly estimated and removed?” (Emphasis in original.)

Satellite temperature data gives a much more representative profile of the Earth than do land-based measurements, many of which are in growing cities with an “urban heat island” effect. It is no surprise temperatures will rise in growing cities, but to cherrypick such results when cities and urban areas only take up a tiny fraction of the Earth’s surface is simply scientific fraud. While 2015 was actually the third-warmest year since 1979, considering the current El Niño is at least the strongest since 1998 we should have experienced record temperatures if global warming were true. But we didn’t.

The opposite is true. Solar cycles indicate global cooling is the biggest climate danger for civilisation in the immediate future. Scientists such as Prof. Carl-Otto Weiss, Advisor to the European Institute for Climate and Energy have forecast immediate cooling, and perhaps we are now seeing the evidence. The cold snap now hitting East Asia is causing havoc. In Hong Kong temperatures dropped to 3.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the coldest in 59 years. In Taiwan, the capital Taipei recorded a low of 4 degrees Celsius, the coldest in 44 years and local media reported 90 people died due to the cold weather, mainly from hypothermia and cardiac arrest; five more died in Japan. The southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, on the Tropic of Cancer, saw sleet for the first time in 60 years. The United States has suffered one of the worst snow storms in a century this month and last year New York City experienced its coldest February in 81 years.

As the CEC exposed in its landmark 2007 New Citizen headlined “Global Warming is a Fraud!”, if we were to shut down industry and energy-intensive agriculture in the way the “global warming” fraudsters demand, the world’s population would collapse far below its present level of 7.3 billion. This genocide is the actual intention behind this hoax, which the elite European aristocrats who created the modern green movement and hijacked climate science, such as Prince Philip, have openly and repeatedly stated.
