An Open Letter to Legislators Currently Considering Vaccine Legislation from Tetyana Obukhanych, PhD in Immunology

Re: VACCINE LEGISLATION

Dear Legislator:

My name is Tetyana Obukhanych. I hold a PhD in Immunology. I am writing this letter in the hope that it will correct several common misperceptions about vaccines in order to help you formulate a fair and balanced understanding that is supported by accepted vaccine theory and new scientific findings.

Do unvaccinated children pose a higher threat to the public than the vaccinated?

It is often stated that those who choose not to vaccinate their children for reasons of conscience endanger the rest of the public, and this is the rationale behind most of the legislation to end vaccine exemptions currently being considered by federal and state legislators country-wide. You should be aware that the nature of protection afforded by many modern vaccines – and that includes most of the vaccines recommended by the CDC for children – is not consistent with such a statement. I have outlined below the recommended vaccines that cannot prevent transmission of disease either because they are not designed to prevent the transmission of infection (rather, they are intended to prevent disease symptoms), or because they are for non-communicable diseases. People who have not received the vaccines mentioned below pose no higher threat to the general public than those who have, implying that discrimination against non-immunized children in a public school setting may not be warranted.

IPV (inactivated poliovirus vaccine) cannot prevent transmission of poliovirus (see appendix for the scientific study, Item #1). Wild poliovirus has been non-existent in the USA for at least two decades. Even if wild poliovirus were to be re-imported by travel, vaccinating for polio with IPV cannot affect the safety of public spaces. Please note that wild poliovirus eradication is attributed to the use of a different vaccine, OPV or oral poliovirus vaccine. Despite being capable of preventing wild poliovirus transmission, use of OPV was phased out long ago in the USA and replaced with IPV due to safety concerns.

Tetanus is not a contagious disease, but rather acquired from deep-puncture wounds contaminated with C. tetani spores. Vaccinating for tetanus (via the DTaP combination vaccine) cannot alter the safety of public spaces; it is intended to render personal protection only.

While intended to prevent the disease-causing effects of the diphtheria toxin, the diphtheria toxoid vaccine (also contained in the DTaP vaccine) is not designed to prevent colonization and transmission of C. diphtheriae. Vaccinating for diphtheria cannot alter the safety of public spaces; it is likewise intended for personal protection only.

The acellular pertussis (aP) vaccine (the final element of the DTaP combined vaccine), now in use in the USA, replaced the whole cell pertussis vaccine in the late 1990s, which was followed by an unprecedented resurgence of whooping cough. An experiment with deliberate pertussis infection in primates revealed that the aP vaccine is not capable of preventing colonization and transmission of B. pertussis (see appendix for the scientific study, Item #2). The FDA has issued a warning regarding this crucial finding.[1]

Furthermore, the 2013 meeting of the Board of Scientific Counselors at the CDC revealed additional alarming data that pertussis variants (PRN-negative strains) currently circulating in the USA acquired a selective advantage to infect those who are up-to-date for their DTaP boosters (see appendix for the CDC document, Item #3), meaning that people who are up-to-date are more likely to be infected, and thus contagious, than people who are not vaccinated.

1. Introduction

The aim of vaccination is to prevent diseases and suffering and to save lives. The official line propagated by governments, the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies is that vaccines are safe and effective, and that vaccination has been an overwhelming medical success. However, the benefits and risks of vaccination have been vigorously debated ever since vaccines were first invented, and critics of vaccination have included numerous doctors. The debate has often been fierce and emotional, with anybody questioning the value of mass vaccination being accused of ‘putting children’s lives at risk’. This is not surprising given that enormous vested interests are at stake. The human vaccine market was worth US$8.7 billion in 2005 and is expected to grow to more than US$23 billion by 2012.

Vaccination does not guarantee immunity from disease. If is often accompanied by side effects, and in some cases it can cause disability and death. This article takes a closer look at the risks involved and shows that homeopathy offers a safe and effective alternative.

2. Ingredients and side-effects

Vaccination introduces into the body the pathogens (viruses or bacteria) that are believed to cause particular diseases, but in a form that is supposed to trigger the production of antibodies without causing the disease itself. In theory, these antibodies will then provide protection against catching the disease in the future.

The main ingredients of vaccines are cultured bacteria and viruses. The bacteria are grown in a culture medium, while the viruses are grown on animal or human cells, some of which end up in the final product. Animal material in vaccines includes monkey kidney cells, chicken or duck egg protein, chick embryos, pig pancreatic cells, blood from sheep or cows, and gelatine from cows and pigs. These proteins are foreign to the body, and are very toxic as they are injected directly and do not get filtered by the digestive system or pass through the liver.

Vaccines also contain stabilizers, neutralizers, carrying agents, and preservatives. These include toxic metals (e.g. mercury and aluminium) and chemicals such as formaldehyde (an embalming fluid used to kill viruses; a potential carcinogen), phenoxyethanol (a component of antifreeze), and monosodium glutamate (a mutagen and neurotoxin, added as a stabilizer). Antibiotics (e.g. neomycin, polymyxin) are added to prevent the growth of germs in vaccine cultures, but they also suppress the immune system and may trigger allergic reactions.

The ingredients (including byproducts of the manufacturing process) of four commonly used vaccines are listed below.*

DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, (acellular) pertussis/whooping cough): diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, pertussis toxoid, filamentous haemagglutinin, pertactin (a membrane protein), fimbriae types 2 and 3, phenoxyethanol, aluminium, formaldehyde.

IPV (inactivated polio vaccine): 3 types of polio virus, human diploid cells (originating from aborted human babies), human albumin, bovine serum, phenoxyethanol, formaldehyde, streptomycin, polymyxin, neomycin.

MMR: live measles virus, live mumps virus, live rubella virus, sorbitol, sodium phosphate, sucrose, gelatine, human albumin, chick embryos, fetal bovine serum (from aborted calf baby), human diploid cells (originating from aborted human babies), neomycin.

Flu: influenza viruses, haemagglutinin and neuraminidase antigens A and B strains, mercury, formaldehyde, sodium chloride, mashed chick embryos, gelatine, neomycin.

Mercury

The mercury compound used in vaccines is called thiomersal (or thimerosal in the US), which is an antiseptic and antifungal agent. It is added to vaccines as a preservative, as it prevents bacterial overgrowth. According to an Eli Lilly manufacturer’s data sheet (1999), thiomersal is toxic and causes fetal abnormality, higher infant mortality rates, and abnormal changes to lung tissue (Karpasea-Jones, 2006, p. 18). Mercury is one of the most toxic substances known to man. It damages the brain, nervous system and immune systems; mercury poisoning causes symptoms very similar to those of autism. Its use in vaccines has been linked to the rise in the number of people suffering from autism, hyperactivity, speech disorders and other developmental problems (www.safeminds.org).

Thiomersal contains ethylmercury, whereas the mercury contained in certain foods (e.g. fish) is methylmercury. The amount of ethylmercury in a single vaccine can exceed the recommended daily intake of methylmercury by up to 100 times (Halvorsen, 2007, p. 10). No studies have ever been carried out to determine human safety levels for ethylmercury, even though it has been injected into babies for over 60 years. Vaccine proponents argue that unlike methylmercury, ethylmercury is excreted quickly and does not accumulate. However this has no bearing on the maximum blood levels of mercury that are likely to cause harm. Most experts agree that the two types of mercury are similarly toxic. Moreover, unlike mercury in food, the mercury in vaccines is injected, thereby bypassing the stomach’s protective barrier.

In 1999 the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advised vaccine manufacturers to remove mercury from their vaccines, and by 2002 no mercury-containing vaccines were being routinely given to American children. Mercury was not removed from the majority of vaccines given to children in the UK until 2004, though the health department denied that this had anything to do with safety concerns. Mercury-containing flu vaccines for children are still widely used in the rich nations, even though mercury-free alternatives are available. Moreover, mercury is still used in the manufacturing process, so even ‘mercury-free’ vaccines can contain trace amounts of mercury. Mercury is still commonly used in vaccines administered in the third world.

Mercury is being replaced by other chemicals. One of them is 2-phenoxyethanol, which is the main ingredient of antifreeze. It can cause systematic poisoning, headache, shock, weakness, convulsions, kidney damage, kidney failure, cardiac failure, and death. The ethylene oxide component is a skin irritant also responsible for causing burns, blisters, dermatitis, and eczema (www.vaccineriskawareness.com).

New UAH Lower Troposphere Temperature Data Show No Global Warming for More Than 18 Years

A large title, full of meaning, inspires yet another CAGW related post. (If you are a follower or frequenter of my blog, or more importantly, WUWT, you will know that CAGW stands for “Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming” or, in other words, “climate change due to man’s increases in atmospheric CO2 that seriously threaten our future well-being”.

A large issue with enormous global ramifications, not necessarily even global temperature-related. This WUWT post offers important scientific information, I stress scientific because so much of the information thrust onto, and believed by the public, is so far removed from scientific reality that it is is often beyond comprehension.

So we “know” the earth is warming because that is what we are told, or is it? We “know” that this warming is caused by increases in CO2 due to man’s industrial by-product generation, or do we? There is much to consider.

This post deals with an aspect of how we calculate the “warming”. This particular article, shows that the atmosphere above us is in fact not warming at the moment and has not since 1998.

We are told that the global warming is due to a green-house effect, predominately due to CO2, which is increasing at a linear rate because of industrial activities. In 1998, a huge positive spike added a substantial increase in the average global temperature, due to an ‘El-Nino’ ocean current effect that certainly was independent of CO2 generation. (Why that created a net global effect is not clear as the heating effect in some areas might have been balanced by cooling elsewhere, but apparently not?).

Prior to 1998, the UAH temperature remained relatively flat for the preceding 8 years, possibly about +0.02 degC/decade. After 1998 there is arguably a cooling trend of about -0.1 degC, certainly not statistically warming. The 1998 positive spike injected a boost of about +0.2 degC.

These values are accepted by the warmist, but their conclusions are that CO2 has created an average trend of +0.12 degC/decade. In simple terms, two relatively flat periods plus a spike which no-one associates with industrial activity, have no correlation to a linearly increasing CO2 .

More importantly, we are currently experiencing a slight cooling at the same time as CO2 levels are still increasing, therefore a reverse relationship. The atmospheric temperature is elevated compared to pre-1998 and this may tend to increase the earth’s heat content slowly, but, not because of increasing CO2 levels!

In other words, the whole thing sounds illogical to me! Nothing simple about the whole issue, my attempt to simplify might not be valid, but that’s the way I see it!

I just hope I live long enough to experience the next decade in order to establish whether ‘The global warming threat is indeed the “world’s greatest ever scam” ‘, and thousands of so-called “deniers” are proven to be scientifically and logically sound analysts, or “vice-versa”.

Global Climate Change: The Earth Has Shifted, Say Inuit Elders

I am excited to find this again. A couple of years ago it surfaced somewhere and I lost any reference. As mentioned Inuit Indians (living North of Alaska), have a very keen sense of the Earth and its geographical relationship to the Sun and stars. Of course, astronomers should have an even better awareness of our polar alignment with respect to the Sun, which is the relevant topic. Or do they? If a shift has occurred recently, it might not reach public attention if they (astronomers) are associated with the global clique of alarmists. Paranoia? possibly, but let’s just go with the Inuit observations and intuition and see where it leads.

Even a minute polar axis shift would certainly have an effect on the Sun’s warming effect on our ‘globe’ and would need to be considered. It might have far more effect on Arctic ice volume than any CO2 related suppositions.

There is also significant shifting of our magnetic pole relative to earth’s spin axis. That too should be considered as the magnetic field interacts with the cosmic ray bombardment from the Sun to Earth. Cosmic rays are known to affect our weather system. Again this does not appear to get a mention as a “global warming” factor.

They are warning that the change in climate is not due to global warming but rather, because of the Earth shifting a bit.The Inuits are local people that live in the Arctic regions of Canada, the United States and Greenland. They are excellent weather forecasters and so were their ancestors. Presently they are warning NASA that the cause of change in weather, earthquakes etc, are not due to global warming as the world thinksThey state that the earth has shifted or “wobbled”. “Their sky has changed!”

Global Warming’s Tree Ring Circus Brings Us The Costliest Show On Earth

Larry Bell Contributor to ‘Forbes’ invites us to share this article on the ‘Climate Change’ scenario which is of such enormous importance to the whole world’s population.

Books are being published, hundreds of scientific papers contributed and thousands of articles posted on the internet. Valid questions are being asked about quite a few aspects of the total picture. The main one regarding the validity of the science on which the whole ‘structure’ is built, is cleverly dealt with here.

If global warming isn’t the Greatest Show on Earth, it’s certainly the costliest and most bizarre.  An early act featuring a hockey stick –shaped graph published by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 2001 profoundly influenced world energy and environmental policies.

Based heavily upon data taken from tree growth rings on the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia, it indicated that world temperatures which had been stable for 900 years until the 20th century suddenly soared due to human fossil fuel-burning greenhouse gas emissions – at least that was the IPCC’s story.

Although science behind that hockey stick chart has now been thoroughly challenged, its creator, Dr. Michael Mann, is a harsh critic of skeptics who dare to question the existence of the crisis he has failed to prove. His January 15 New York Times Op/Ed column titled “If You See Something, Say Something” charges that despite an overwhelming consensus among climate scientists that human-caused climate change is happening, a “virulent strain of anti-science infects the halls of Congress, the pages of a few leading newspapers and what we see on TV, leading to the appearance of a debate where none should exist.”

No one I know would dispute that climate changes, or would argue that we humans have absolutely no influence (even if it’s far too tiny to measure.) But then he goes on to claim that a survey shows about 97 percent also agree that “we must respond to the dangers of a warming planet”. As discussed in my July 10, 2012 column, there is no survey showing consensus regarding warming as a “danger”.

Having already concluded not only that global warming is dangerous, but also that human emissions pose that threat, Mann then urges “mainstream scientists” (presumably all of  those who agree with him) to get directly involved in remedial technology and policy activism. Such involvement includes determining whether to go “full-bore” on nuclear power, whether to invest in and deploy renewable wind, solar and geothermal energy on a huge scale, and whether to price carbon emissions through cap-and-trade legislation or by imposing a carbon tax.

Mann refers to the late Stanford University Professor Stephen Schneider, a fellow man-made global warming advocate, as a good example. Incidentally, this is the same Stephen Schneider who authored The Genesis Strategy, a 1976 book warning that global cooling risks posed a threat to humanity. Schneider later changed that view 180 degrees, serving as a lead author for important parts of three IPCC reports.

Blurring the divide between objective science and political science, Schneider once said: “On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method. On the other hand, we are not just scientists, but human beings as well. And like most people, we’d like to see the world a better place, which in this context translates into our working to reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climatic change. To do that we need to get broad-based support, to capture the public’s imagination. That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have.”

This Forbes post is very clear, meaningful and needs to be read by all interested people, whatever their beliefs.
