I believe that the world’s people are not receiving the truth via the mass media outlets.
I also believe that most people are so engrossed with their own lives that they cocoon themselves and prefer to not be burdened with information that only makes them feel helpless because they can do relatively little about these issues.
Others accept the dogma of the media and are active in the belief that they are doing good, but in reality are supporting the destruction of our civilization.
Major, military global issues are the most serious current threats to our civilization. If you want to be reliably informed about these you could do worse than follow the NSNBC blog which currently has these articles posted:

You are right saying, that people don´t want to burden themselves with issues they can do little about. The fact is, everybody can do a lot, by just doing a little bit. Subscribing to nsnbc for example, and reading it daily, helps us stay online. Talking with your neighbors, going to a demonstration, getting involved – helps a lot. It is the very, very weak “men behind the curtain” who want you to believe that you can´t do anything. Once you stand up, together, they usually run.
