No wonder he was feared for his influence, sense of justice and his wisdom, by the ungodly who chose to assassinate him.
Martin Luther King Junior was a giant among ordinary men, even above extraordinary men. Certainly above current world leaders, especially those that orchestrate, execute and support the destruction of honest and innocent people.
He was a religious man, perhaps not taking into account the bigger picture of religion, that is, that other religions have their place in our global civilization, some of which currently create, and all of which have created, unnecessary disruptions in peaceful lives.
So there is a paradox of sorts, when MLK Jnr says that “religion gives man wisdom, which is control”, he ignores the fact that this is not an absolute, there are too many exceptions to give this statement credence.
If he had placed himself above religion, all his philosophy would have been indisputable. It, nevertheless serves as an impressive, universal guide to the whole world, a guide and education for all people to also place themselves above religion, at least that part which is far too attached to earthly fallibilities, and live by logical, humane principles.
This, theoretically would work for “normal people”, but of course there are those whose greed, selfishness and absolute ignorance of civilized behaviour, have no concept of what we are talking about, who will not even stop or slow down to think about MLK Jnr’s words, who do not have the mental capacity or whatever it takes to understand anything except violence as a solution to their problems and/or dreams.
I am not aware of any other person, or organization, that concentrates its teaching(s) on these particular principles and broadcasts them to the ‘rest of the world’ to the extent that it effectively reaches any other than the “already converted”.
