To believe the mainstream media is to risk ever knowing the truth about the real world. To believe government, (any government), issued information without considering their agenda(s), is to risk being brainwashed.
"Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about things that matter".--Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
"I am only a child playing on the beach, while vast oceans of truth lie undiscovered before me". - Isaac Newton
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” – Albert Einstein, who also said:
"The minority, the ruling class at present, has the schools and the press, usually the church as well. under its thumb. This enables it to organize and sway the emotions of the masses, and makes its tool of them!" And,
"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence."

Yes, as soon as there’s a war, they will want everyone to grow again ….. very ridiculous! It demonstrates how the D of D. Has their heads planted firmly?
True, and not in the sand either!
If I reread the comment I made about the irony of their statement, I become more and more amazed at how true it actually is.
Every word and term of their description exactly fits their own actions overseas and, unfortunately, at home as well. Extremism exactly, if the cap fits.
They are so bigoted, hypocritical and hegemonic that it might be expected that if they ever encourage the home owners to grow food, it will be to benefit the hierarchy and not the people.
Shades of the Sheriff of Nottingham – making slaves of the people as suppliers of food and taxes to the rich and powerful. Are there any Robin Hoods about??
Thanks Ken, for making me re-read both the original article and your addendum notes. Upon re-reading. It says that it was for “training purposes” Only and should not be used on the job? So basically they are using useless exercise, to train their air force? Somehow they equate people’s desire for “freedom” as a means to label us as extremists? Now if that’s not fascism? It’s difficult to see it as not?
So the Pentagon is going to take on a multi-billion dollar industry of home growing. Whether it is food or flowers, how do you differentiate?
Really the U.S. military needs to read it’s own rhetoric? Just to see how asinine, it is.
On a separate note. I do not believe in Robin Hood any more than I believe in the Tooth Fairy. They are both tales spun to entertain. Violence only begets violence. Nothing is effectively solved by it. Sometimes there is a need for violence but that step needs to be after all other avenues are exhausted. Those who take up the sword, usually die by it. Their karma will require more lives spent trying to rectify the damage, done to it. Let those who would do the violence to us, actually figure out how ridiculous they are.
This week has seen another day spent, mourning those who laid down their lives in war. But where is the day spent celebrating the diplomacy that prevented war in the first place?
The Robin Hood analogy was not meant to be serious. I mentioned it because of my recalling boyhood reading experiences of goodies and baddies. These real time baddies are evil and real, unfortunately – just dreaming of a “Superman” or “Batman” scenario to rescue us. 🙂
As for them labelling the DOD article as “training” – can you see any reason to believe that there is any point in such a training excercise being of any value to them unless the scenario is potentially real? I believe that is an excuse to con the people into believing that they are safe.
Are the armaments and munitions being supplied to the civil services for training purposes? If so, against what eventuality?
Regards, Ken.
Vis-a-vis, the sheriff vs. the boys in green. Yes I got that Ken. I was only making the point that Mr. Hood mostly made his scores by similar tactics that Notts. was using. Ambush and so on. However it never fixed anything long term. Being violent is too easy. Most of England was once heavily forested. Flying over it, these days, shows how people have smoothed it all out. Forests are a laughing apology of large tracts of cleared land with small fringe of species not particularly native. Joining Europe, killed the wonderful diversity that there once was. It’s hard to imagine the notion of diplomacy being anything more than rich people making it better for other wealthy corporations. It will need the very ordinary people waking from their slumber, maybe superman could do that?
The DoD in U.S. is likely doing what you allude to. I just find a small amusement with them taking on an industry that promotes growing at home. I shall continue growing my food as much as possible. Thankfully, I do not live in U.S. While I’m living within easy reach of our border. I stopped going over it since 2005. I now avoid the popular pastime of Canadians, going there for “shopping”. I don’t need their nasty stuff.
For me patriotism means caring for the land. Not destroying it like the DoD would do. The flags and so on, are just jingoistic smokescreens; for the uninformed and people who easily swallow the rhetoric. …… “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose”? ~ K.Kristofferson.
