The more-than-verbal tussle that currently forms the basis for a potential third world-war involving Russia and the Western powers is mind-boggling in the extreme with its lies, pretences and accusations. What the public is prepared to believe from the mainstream media is equally mind-boggling. Hopefully this logical assessment of the situation, supported by facts and unbiassed opinion and evidence, provides alternative information worthy of readers’ time.
From ‘nsnbc‘, by Finian Cunningham (SCF):
The monstrous US military budget is a classic illustration of the proverb about not seeing the wood for the trees. It is such an overwhelming outgrowth, all too often it is misperceived.
In recent years, Washington’s military expenditure averages around $600 billion a year. That’s over half of the total discretionary spending by the US government, exceeding budgets for education, health and social security. It’s well over a third of the total world military annual spend of $1.7 trillion.
The incipient military-industrial complex that President Dwight Eisenhower warned of in his farewell speech in 1961 has indeed become a central, defining feature of American society and economy. To talk of «American free-market capitalism» is a staggering oxymoron when so much of the country’s economy is wholly dependent on government-funded militarism.
Or put it another way: if the US military budget were somehow drastically reduced in line with other nations, the all-powerful military-industrial complex and the American state as we know it would collapse. No doubt something better would evolve in time, but the impact on established power interests would be calamitous and therefore is trenchantly resisted.
This is the context for the escalation in Cold War tensions with Russia this week, with the deployment of the US missile system in Romania. The $800 million so-called missile shield is set to expand to Poland over the next two years and eventually will cover all of Europe from Greenland to southern Spain.
Washington and NATO officials maintain that the Aegis anti-missile network is not targeted at Russia. Unconvincingly, the US-led military alliance claims that the system is to defend against Iranian ballistic missiles or from other unspecified «rogue states». Given that Europe is well beyond the range of any Iranian ballistic capability and in light of the international nuclear accord signed last year between Tehran and the P5+1 powers, the rationale of «defense against Iranian rockets» beggars belief.
The Russian government is not buying American and NATO denials that the new missile system is not directed at Russia. The Kremlin reproached the latest deployment as a threat to its security, adding that it would be taking appropriate counter-measures to restore the strategic nuclear balance. That’s because the US Aegis system can be reasonably construed as giving NATO forces a «first-strike option» against Russia.
A couple of things need to be clarified before addressing the main point here. First, European states are chasing Iranian business investments and markets following the breakthrough P5+1 accord signed last July. Germany, France, Italy, Britain and Austria are among the Europeans who have been vying to tap Iran’s huge economic potential. The notion that Iran is harboring a military threat to such prospective partners is ludicrous, as Russian officials have pointed out.
Secondly, the US protestations of innocent intentions towards Russia are a contemptible insult to common sense. They contradict countless statements by Washington, including President Obama and his Pentagon top brass, which have nominated Russia as an aggressive threat to Europe. Washington is quadrupling its military spending in Europe, increasing its troops, tanks, fighter jets, warships and war exercises on Russia’s borders on the explicit basis of «deterring Russian aggression».
In other words, Russia is viewed as a top global enemy – an existential threat – according to Washington. So, the deployment of the US Aegis missile system this week in Eastern Europe is fully consistent with Washington’s bellicose policies towards Russia. It would thus be irrational and foolishly naive to somehow conclude otherwise, that the US and its NATO allies are not on an offensive march towards Russia.
The depiction of Russia as a global security threat is of course absurd. We can also include similar US claims against China, Iran and North Korea. All such US-designated «enemies» are wildly overblown.
Western claims – amplified relentlessly in the Western news media – of Russia «annexing» Crimea and «invading» eastern Ukraine can be easily contested with facts and indeed counterpoised more accurately as belying Washington’s covert regime change in Kiev.
Nevertheless, Western fear-mongering supported by unremitting media propaganda has to a degree succeeded in conflating these dubious claims into a bigger specter of Russia menacing all of Europe with hybrid warfare. It is, to be sure, a preposterous scare story of a Russian bogeyman which has racist undertones and antecedents in Nazi ideology of demonizing Slavic barbarians.
But this demonizing of Russia, as with other global enemies, is a necessary prop for the American military-industrial complex and its essential functioning for the US economy.

From ‘Natural News’, by David Gutierrez, staff writer
A blatant copy of most of the original source article:
(NaturalNews) The question of whether cell phones cause brain cancer has been definitively settled, doctors and scientists from around the country warned recently at a pediatric conference in Baltimore.
“The weight of the evidence is clear: cell phones do cause brain cancer,” said Dr. Devras Davis, president of the Environmental Health Trust.
Children are particularly vulnerable to the damaging effects of cell phone radiation, even in the womb, the experts warned. That’s why pregnant women should also limit their cell phone use.
“Keep the phone away from the abdomen — especially toward the end of pregnancy,” Davis said.
Oxidative damage leads to cancer
Cell phones emit a type of radiation known as radiofrequency radiation (RFR), which is also used to transmit wireless internet signals. This is different from ionizing radiation (such as from X-rays), which is known to cause DNA damage and cancer. Until recently, many health experts insisted that RFR was simply too low energy to cause the kind of cell damage that causes cancer – even as the studies linking RFR exposure and cancer continued to pile up.
In 2010, the landmark international Interphone study found that ten years or more of cell phone use was associated with a 40 percent higher risk of brain tumors, a 300 percent higher risk of acoustic nerve tumors, and also an increased risk of parotid gland tumors. The risk of brain tumors was 400 percent higher among those who began using phones before age 20. Strikingly, the methodology of this industry-funded study was widely criticized for data analysis techniques designed to show lower risk – suggesting that the true risk is much higher.
In 2011, the International Agency for Research on Cancer classified RFR as a possible carcinogen.
Then, in 2015, a study in Electromagnetic Biology & Medicine provided part of the answer as to how RFR might lead to cancer. A review of prior research into the biological effects of RFR exposure showed that the levels of radiation absorbed through normal cell phone or wireless internet use produce oxidative stress, a condition in which the body’s antioxidant capability is overwhelmed, and free radicals start to build up in the body.
Free radicals cause oxidative damage to cells and DNA, and have been strongly linked to cancer, heart disease, dementia and other health conditions.
Children at higher risk
Children are especially vulnerable to the health risks of cell phones, attendees at the Baltimore conference warned. According to Davis, their brains absorb twice as much radiation as adult brains do, given the same exposure.
This could explain studies showing that a pregnant woman’s cell phone use can affect her unborn child.
“There’s a correlation between cell phone use in pregnancy and behavioral problems in their children,” said Dr. Hugh Taylor of the Yale School of Medicine.
Children are also harmed by the disrupting effects that cell phones have on human social relationships, warned clinical psychologist Catherine Steiner-Adair.
“These devices are really stressing and straining our family relationships because the average mom or dad will check their phones 60 to 110 times a day,” she said.
In fact, numerous studies have shown that parents regularly ignore their children to look at their phones instead, and that this is correlated with a higher level of behavioral disturbance in their children. And the children are aware of being ignored: In one international study, a third of children said that their parents spend as much or more time on their mobile devices as they do with them; a similar number said they felt unimportant when their parents were distracted from them by a device; and more than half said their parents check their devices too often.
Parental overuse of mobile devices makes children more likely to develop technology addictions, which in turn is linked with cognitive, emotional and social problems.
“So we’re getting like a triple, quadruple whammy between the biological effect, the psychological effects and the brain waves effects,” said pediatric neurologist Dr. Martha Herbert.
This is beyond my comprehension! Do the general American public get to hear about this?
What conclusions can be drawn? Many thoughts arise, none of them good.

Posted on Facebook by ‘Collective Evolution‘, ” Harrison Ford is the Ocean ”
I can’t think of any reason why all people shouldn’t watch and think about this. It could have relevance to other environmental substances and even creatures but the ocean is the greatest contributor to man’s survival and serves as a great example.
I was thinking about trees, bees, birds, fish, plants, clean atmosphere, inland water storages and waterways, all essential to our existence and future. Sources of sustenance, shelter, personal protection, nutrition and health foods.
An aside, hemp stands out as an important survival product of nature, offering a great range of supporting end products, permitting possible continuation of our species if, in fact we were not otherwise reliant on petroleum and other fossil fuel products.
Minerals provide a wide variety of other human support items, have become essentials in our life styles, but their non-use would not be a cause for extinction. (?)
So it is that our industrialization of the planet has provided much to “improve” our lives, but, paradoxically, has introduced all the side-effects (if you like), that actually threaten the extinction of mankind.
Regardless of the issue of so-called “climate change”, which may or may not be due to man-made by-products, it is clear-cut that just about all our industrialization is destroying our habitat and threatening our future.
Inland waterways are polluted by chemicals and trash, the oceans are polluted by oil and gas spills, plastics and other human refuse, nuclear material radiation and chemical outflows.
The atmosphere is polluted by chemical spraying, other chemicals, combustion products and, again nuclear radiation products. (I do not include CO2 as a pollutant – it’s 0.04% atmospheric content is no more than in past eons and a little more offers much more in the way of plant production and no provable ill-effects!)
Our grown food products are adulterated by GMO’s, pesticides and herbicides, and processed “foods” poisoning us with chemical substitutes, additives, excess sugar and preservatives.
All of this, ironically, supports the global government initiatives of industrial phase-out and depopulation, a proposed political ideology I personally abhor, yet it makes sense, unfortunately.
Thus, pollution is the crux of the survival problem. Industrial processes causing contamination must be cleaned up or replaced by clean alternatives. Waste controls must be effective. Food production must be free of contaminants and health-threatening substances.
Fossil burning processes must be rendered “clean” or replaced gradually, in a controlled way. Nuclear radiation and waste by-products must be rendered pollution free or eradicated.
Efficient energy sources other than fossil fuels must be developed. All alternatives investigated, Tesla principles and any other previously clobbered by the oil industry must be looked at.
How do we do all this without reversing the current political power spearheaded by the UN that is taking us initially into the dark ages in order to achieve the same end result of a clean and desirable planet?
How can we oppose this UN power? Impossible maybe, but if the public understands what is really going on, only then can there be any hope.
Perhaps the real reason – ” Another important factor is the fact that Amish people grow their own food. They use organic methods which supply them with healthy fruits and vegetables, healthy dairy and meat as well as unprocessed foods, which most of Americans will never have the chance to try.”
Nor does autism feature in their lifestyle.
Health experts have researched their diet and lifestyle, which brought to a shocking discovery. According to a recent study published in the journal Cancer Causes and Control, Amish people are the healthiest people in America and the only one with almost not a single case of cancer. Experts from the Ohio University have…
Two published reports alerted the need for this post.
One, the facebook revelation that highlights the politicians’ ignorance of, or their being oblivious to, real world economics and its relationship to the disadvantaged, linked here.
Two, an article titled “Too Many Going Hungry”, from the ‘Whitehorse Leader‘ by Rebecca David, reporting on ‘Feed Melbourne Appeal 2016’, http://www.feedmelbourne.org.au/ , which I quote, says:
“Ten percent of Australians say they can’t afford to buy enough food”
“The ‘Feed Melbourne Appeal’ raises money to do something about this”
” Foodbank Victoria’s latest Hunger Report revealed almost 9000 Victorians – 2700 of them children – were being turned away from food charities that couldn’t keep up with the demand”. The report, compiled from responses by 1197 food agencies, shows that more than 90,900 people accessed food relief each month “
” Community Support Frankston manager Steve Phillips said the Commonwealth Government cut $100,000 in emergency relief funding in the area during the last financial year. “
” Make a Difference co-ordinator Marion Harriden said they had lost 100% of their government funding, and now survived on grants, donations and sponsorships. “
” The appeal is led by Leader Community News, Fairshare and the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. “
Opinion: A combination of factors which obviously require urgent attention and future action –
The failure of our society to achieve moral standards and economic balance in Australia. This means a balance in understanding and priorities that should not be lacking in our country of plentiful resources. A balance in the national economy that limits the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, at least to the extent shown to be true here.
A balance in the international economy that avoids unnecessary expenditure overseas at the expense of our own citizens welfare.
An education of our political leaders and aspirers, apparently only available from the activist blogging fraternity, as to the real-world economy.
An awareness of the extent of our existing Australian welfare system –
that it is currently so essential yet neglected by the authorities, and should not be!;
that it is already supported by an extensive volunteer network which has more understanding, compassion and drive than the whole collective political leadership put together;
that it is a disgrace to our country’s heritage and pride of being one of the best in the world.
From here? Citizens, please consider supporting this Food Appeal and perhaps also help educate our leaders and candidates understand this dire situation. Perhaps vote for those most compassionate and patriotic.
Opportunities to broaden your mind and knowledge are plentiful if you search the internet. This post by Ethan Indigo Smith, contributing writer for Wake Up World, spells out the benefits, essentials more aptly, of making use of meaningful information as distinct from mainstream heavily censored and selected, news.
It will make your search a lot easier.
The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox… There will be no highlights on the eleven o’clock news… The revolution will not be right back after a message… The revolution will not go better with Coke… Because the revolution will not be televised. ~ Gil Scott Heron
Let’s face it, the mainstream media, like CNN, Fox News etc. are great at reporting on the surface understandings of surface issues; car accidents and plane crashes, shootings and robberies; as well as reinforcing why our latest foreign war is good/necessary/the only way to peace and security. But if you really want to investigate and comprehend what is actually going on in the world, and why, you have to go past the mainstream.
Just look at the countless global events being reported by the underground news and compare it to the selective, politically-biased fear-fare of the mainstream; there is little journalistic integrity on display in the mainstream media, just the regurgitation of B.S. And lots of it. Even the surface events reported in the mainstream are often filtered, distorted and even blatantly constructed by media corporations that conceal their corporate and political alliances behind the guise of “news”.
So, if you desire to go past the simplified “what, where and when” of a situation, to explore the deeper aspects of the “who, why, how”, it’s crucial to look beyond the mainstream for your information. And, including a list of 50 of the world’s best “alternative” news and information outlets, this article is going to help you do it…
