New UAH Lower Troposphere Temperature Data Show No Global Warming for More Than 18 Years

A large title, full of meaning, inspires yet another CAGW related post. (If you are a follower or frequenter of my blog, or more importantly, WUWT, you will know that CAGW stands for “Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming” or, in other words, “climate change due to man’s increases in atmospheric CO2 that seriously threaten our future well-being”.

A large issue with enormous global ramifications, not necessarily even global temperature-related. This WUWT post offers important scientific information, I stress scientific because so much of the information thrust onto, and believed by the public, is so far removed from scientific reality that it is is often beyond comprehension.

So we “know” the earth is warming because that is what we are told, or is it? We “know” that this warming is caused by increases in CO2 due to man’s industrial by-product generation, or do we? There is much to consider.

This post deals with an aspect of how we calculate the “warming”. This particular article, shows that the atmosphere above us is in fact not warming at the moment and has not since 1998.

We are told that the global warming is due to a green-house effect, predominately due to CO2, which is increasing at a linear rate because of industrial activities. In 1998, a huge positive spike added a substantial increase in the average global temperature, due to an ‘El-Nino’ ocean current effect that certainly was independent of CO2 generation. (Why that created a net global effect is not clear as the heating effect in some areas might have been balanced by cooling elsewhere, but apparently not?).

Prior to 1998, the UAH temperature remained relatively flat for the preceding 8 years, possibly about +0.02 degC/decade. After 1998 there is arguably a cooling trend of about -0.1 degC, certainly not statistically warming. The 1998 positive spike injected a boost of about +0.2 degC.

These values are accepted by the warmist, but their conclusions are that CO2 has created an average trend of +0.12 degC/decade. In simple terms, two relatively flat periods plus a spike which no-one associates with industrial activity, have no correlation to a linearly increasing CO2 .

More importantly, we are currently experiencing a slight cooling at the same time as CO2 levels are still increasing, therefore a reverse relationship. The atmospheric temperature is elevated compared to pre-1998 and this may tend to increase the earth’s heat content slowly, but, not because of increasing CO2 levels!

In other words, the whole thing sounds illogical to me! Nothing simple about the whole issue, my attempt to simplify might not be valid, but that’s the way I see it!

I just hope I live long enough to experience the next decade in order to establish whether ‘The global warming threat is indeed the “world’s greatest ever scam” ‘, and thousands of so-called “deniers” are proven to be scientifically and logically sound analysts, or “vice-versa”.

Global Climate Change: The Earth Has Shifted, Say Inuit Elders

I am excited to find this again. A couple of years ago it surfaced somewhere and I lost any reference. As mentioned Inuit Indians (living North of Alaska), have a very keen sense of the Earth and its geographical relationship to the Sun and stars. Of course, astronomers should have an even better awareness of our polar alignment with respect to the Sun, which is the relevant topic. Or do they? If a shift has occurred recently, it might not reach public attention if they (astronomers) are associated with the global clique of alarmists. Paranoia? possibly, but let’s just go with the Inuit observations and intuition and see where it leads.

Even a minute polar axis shift would certainly have an effect on the Sun’s warming effect on our ‘globe’ and would need to be considered. It might have far more effect on Arctic ice volume than any CO2 related suppositions.

There is also significant shifting of our magnetic pole relative to earth’s spin axis. That too should be considered as the magnetic field interacts with the cosmic ray bombardment from the Sun to Earth. Cosmic rays are known to affect our weather system. Again this does not appear to get a mention as a “global warming” factor.

So to the article from Wisdom Daily for basically a new learning experience:

A new warning has come to NASA from the Inuits. They are warning that the change in climate is not due to global warming but rather, because of the Earth shifting a bit.The Inuits are local people that live in the Arctic regions of Canada, the United States and Greenland. They are excellent weather forecasters and so were their ancestors. Presently they are warning NASA that the cause of change in weather, earthquakes etc, are not due to global warming as the world thinksThey state that the earth has shifted or “wobbled”. “Their sky has changed!”

Global Warming’s Tree Ring Circus Brings Us The Costliest Show On Earth

Larry Bell Contributor to ‘Forbes’ invites us to share this article on the ‘Climate Change’ scenario which is of such enormous importance to the whole world’s population.

Books are being published, hundreds of scientific papers contributed and thousands of articles posted on the internet. Valid questions are being asked about quite a few aspects of the total picture. The main one regarding the validity of the science on which the whole ‘structure’ is built, is cleverly dealt with here.

If global warming isn’t the Greatest Show on Earth, it’s certainly the costliest and most bizarre.  An early act featuring a hockey stick –shaped graph published by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 2001 profoundly influenced world energy and environmental policies.

Based heavily upon data taken from tree growth rings on the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia, it indicated that world temperatures which had been stable for 900 years until the 20th century suddenly soared due to human fossil fuel-burning greenhouse gas emissions – at least that was the IPCC’s story.

Fallen Hot Aerialist Returns to Center Ring

Although science behind that hockey stick chart has now been thoroughly challenged, its creator, Dr. Michael Mann, is a harsh critic of skeptics who dare to question the existence of the crisis he has failed to prove. His January 15 New York Times Op/Ed column titled “If You See Something, Say Something” charges that despite an overwhelming consensus among climate scientists that human-caused climate change is happening, a “virulent strain of anti-science infects the halls of Congress, the pages of a few leading newspapers and what we see on TV, leading to the appearance of a debate where none should exist.”

No one I know would dispute that climate changes, or would argue that we humans have absolutely no influence (even if it’s far too tiny to measure.) But then he goes on to claim that a survey shows about 97 percent also agree that “we must respond to the dangers of a warming planet”. As discussed in my July 10, 2012 column, there is no survey showing consensus regarding warming as a “danger”.

Having already concluded not only that global warming is dangerous, but also that human emissions pose that threat, Mann then urges “mainstream scientists” (presumably all of  those who agree with him) to get directly involved in remedial technology and policy activism. Such involvement includes determining whether to go “full-bore” on nuclear power, whether to invest in and deploy renewable wind, solar and geothermal energy on a huge scale, and whether to price carbon emissions through cap-and-trade legislation or by imposing a carbon tax.

Mann refers to the late Stanford University Professor Stephen Schneider, a fellow man-made global warming advocate, as a good example. Incidentally, this is the same Stephen Schneider who authored The Genesis Strategy, a 1976 book warning that global cooling risks posed a threat to humanity. Schneider later changed that view 180 degrees, serving as a lead author for important parts of three IPCC reports.

Blurring the divide between objective science and political science, Schneider once said: “On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method. On the other hand, we are not just scientists, but human beings as well. And like most people, we’d like to see the world a better place, which in this context translates into our working to reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climatic change. To do that we need to get broad-based support, to capture the public’s imagination. That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have.”

This Forbes post is very clear, meaningful and needs to be read by all interested people, whatever their beliefs.

8 Questions to handle a Pro Vax Assault

From ‘Journey Boost‘ compelling reasons to question some vaccines.

Learn a couple of key questions to ask your staunch vaccine proponent and tell them, “If you can answer a couple of questions, I’d be happy to discuss this topic further with you.”

Here is a sample of some of the questions that might be helpful, complete with the answers:

#1 What is MRC-5 and WI-38 and what vaccines are they in?

Answer – Two fetal cell lines derived from aborted human fetal tissue (aka human diploid cells or HDC) and used in the production of the mumps, rubella, measles, MMR, smallpox, polio, hepatitis A, chicken pox and shingles vaccines. RA-273 is another fetal cell line.

#2 Name three ingredients in vaccines

SH Truth on AluminumAnswer – Aluminum, Polysorbate 80, and Glutaraldehyde. Aluminum is a known neurotoxin and the FDA only allows 25 mcg in an IV for an adult. Polysorbate 80 is a surfactant known to facilitate access through the blood brain barrier and has been linked to sterility and other issues. Glutaraldehyde is used as a cleaner for oil and gas pipelines and medical equipment and is currently in the DTaP and TDaP.

And so on. Reading the whole article may not convince you to question the vaccine issues, but it should make you realize why the persons who do, have very good reasons.

Climate Youth–The Next Generation Science Standards

This is one of the most important issues – how our children are being educated.
To make an assumption that “the climate science is settled” is one thing. To build our children’s science education on this premise is nothing short of teaching them that the principles of science are optional. Webster’s 1913 Dictionary defines “science” as ” Knowledge; knowledge of principles and causes; ascertained truth of facts. “
It is clear to many, and to most WUWT readers/followers that the very basis of science that we learnt and accepted, has been seriously compromised. The principle of observation/meaurements, hypothesis, proofs, challenges addressed, and the test of falsibility being applicable, has been conveniently altered. In its place we have hypothesis, some proofs, (ones that appear to support the hypothesis), ignoring, denying or censoring any challenges, and similarly doing the latter to any and all evidence that actually falisifies the original hypothesis. The “truth of facts” has not been satisfactorily ascertained. This is so blatant that is beyond the comprehension of this educated person that such a process can take place, remain in place and even become an accepted procedure in our education systems.
Also accepted by governments and other organizations, with the result that major upheavals in financial and political structures are having a direct adverse effect on civilization as a whole.
In this post, the word “brainwashing” appears, that is exactly what is happening and it is having enormous ramifications.
A pertinent extract:

“We find instances of eco-activism being given a free rein within schools and at the events schools encourage their pupils to attend. In every case of concern, the slant is on scares, on raising fears, followed by the promotion of detailed guidance on how pupils should live, as well as on what they should think.
In the main body of the report is the statement, ‘The chairman of the IPCC, Rajendra Pachauri has suggested that a focus on children is the top priority for bringing about societal change, and that by ‘sensitizing’ children to climate change, it will be possible to them to ‘shame adults into taking the right steps’”. [15]

Two distinct issues – unsubstantiated claims are being taught, and science is being adulterated.

What the News Isn’t Saying About Vaccine-Autism Studies

I would like to promote this post by ‘Sharyl Attkinson‘ for its commonsense and informative look at the vaccine-autism link issues, the publicly promoted scientific claims of ‘proofs’ and the associated public debate.

Related articles are being progressively updated, adding strong support to the claims in this post. “86 (now 99) supporting research papers…” , in particular.

[The following is a news analysis and commentary]

A new study this week found no link between vaccines and autism. It instantly made headlines on TV news and popular media everywhere. Many billed it as the final word, “once again,” disproving the notion that vaccines could have anything to do with autism.

What you didn’t learn on the news was that the study was from a consulting firm that lists major vaccine makers among its clients: The Lewin Group.

That potential conflict of interest was not disclosed in the paper published in The New England Journal of Medicine; the study authors simply declare “The Lewin Group operates with editorial independence.”

(As an aside, according to OpenSecrets.org, The Lewin Group’s parent company, UnitedHealth Group, is a key government partner in Obamacare. Its subsidiary QSSI was given the contract to build the federal government’s HealthCare.gov website. One of its top executives and his family are top Obama donors.)

Conflicts of interest alone do not invalidate a study. But they serve as important context in the relentless effort by pharmaceutical interests and their government partners to discredit the many scientists and studies that have found possible vaccine-autism links.

Many Studies Suggest Possible Vaccine-Autism Links

When the popular press, bloggers and medical pundits uncritically promote a study like The Lewin Group’s, it must confound researchers like Lucija Tomljenovic, Catherine DeSoto, Robert Hitlan, Christopher Shaw, Helen Ratajczak, Boyd Haley, Carolyn Gallagher, Melody Goodman, M.I. Kawashti, O.R. Amin, N.G. Rowehy, T. Minami, Laura Hewitson, Brian Lopresti, Carol Stott, Scott Mason, Jaime Tomko, Bernard Rimland, Woody McGinnis, K. Shandley and D.W. Austin.

They are just a few of the many scientists whose peer-reviewed, published works have found possible links between vaccines and autism. But unlike The Lewin Group’s study, their research has not been endorsed and promoted by the government and, therefore, has not been widely reported in the media. In fact, news reports, blogs and “medical experts” routinely claim no such studies exist.

To be clear: no study to date conclusively proves or disproves a causal link between vaccines and autism and—despite the misreporting—none has claimed to do so. Each typically finds either (a) no association or (b) a possible association on a narrow vaccine-autism question. Taken as a whole, the research on both sides serves as a body of evidence.

The Astroturf Propaganda Campaign

It’s theoretically possible that all of the studies supporting a possible link between vaccines and autism are wrong. And, if the propagandists are to be believed, each of the researchers is an incompetent crank, quack, nut or fraud (and, of course, “anti-vaccine” for daring to dabble in research that attempts to solve the autism puzzle and leads to vaccine safety issues). The scientists and their research are “controversial,” simply because the propagandists declare them to be.

The disparaged scientists include well-published neurologists, pharmacists, epidemiologists, immunologists, PhD’s, chemists and microbiologists from places like Boston Children’s Hospital, Horizon Molecular Medicine at Georgia State University, University of British Columbia, City College of New York, Columbia University, Stony Brook University Medical Center, University of Northern Iowa, University of Michigan, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute, Al Azhar University of Cairo, Kinki University in Japan, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Swinburne University of Technology in Australia, Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Poland, Department of Child Health Care, Children’s Hospital of Fudan University in China, Utah State University and many more.

Their work is, at best, ignored by the media; at worst, viciously attacked by the predictable flock of self-appointed expert “science” bloggers who often title their blogs with the word “science” or “skeptics” to confer an air of legitimacy.

This astroturf movement, in my opinion, includes but is not limited to: LeftBrainRightBrain, ScienceBlogs, NeuroSkeptic, ScienceBasedMedicine, LizDitz, ScienceBasedMedicine, CrooksandLiars, RespectfulInsolence, HealthNewsReview, SkepticalRaptor, Skepticblog, Skeptics.com, Wired, BrianDeer, SethMnookin, Orac, Every Child by Two, the vaccine industry supported American Academy of Pediatrics, and the government/corporate funded American Council on Science and Health (once called “Voodoo Science, Twisted Consumerism” by the watchdog Center for Science in the Public Interest).

This circle operates with the moral support of the vaccine industry and its government partners, citing one another’s flawed critiques as supposed proof that each study has been “debunked,” though the studies continue to appear in peer-reviewed, published journals and in the government’s own National Institutes of Health library.

“Weak,” “too small,” “haphazard,” “not replicated,” “junk science,” “flawed,” “unrelated,” declare the propagandists, without exception. Just as attackers spent years challenging any study that linked tobacco to lung cancer.

They know that reporters who don’t do their homework will conduct an Internet search, run across the blogs with science-y sounding names, and uncritically accept their word as if it’s fact and prevailing thought.

It goes on to list a small sample of the many valid technical papers showing that much evidence does reasonably show a relationship, if not a direct causal one, does make a mockery of the “official” statements that “there is no evidence” or there is “no proof”.

Source article here.

If I may include an extract from a post previously posted here, it is quite clear that, in fact lies are being offered and believed by scientists and the general public.

Vaccines (Part II): Hygiene, Sanitation, Immunization, and Pestilential Diseases

In the “heat of the moment”, regarding mandatory vaccinations,  it is appropriate to include this post, by Miguel A. Faria, Jr., MD, published by ‘Hacienda Publishing’.

Part I is linked and adds important relevant information.

Supporting mandatory vaccinations without reading this, (and ALL the other references and related evidence), is a serious omission of public responsibility.

As the controversial debate over mandatory vaccine policy heats up igniting passions, it is perhaps appropriate we summarize what is known about the manifest benefits of modern vaccines, not forgetting the tremendously salutary impact on health and longevity wrought about by better living conditions, hygiene and sanitation, in general, and the introduction and subsequent widespread use of antibiotics, in particular.

In Part I of this essay, we discussed the history of vaccinations, the advent of the germ theory of disease, and the ushering in of the dawn of scientific medicine.(1) In Part II, we will weave into this historic tapestry the more contemporary history behind some of the many infectious illnesses of the 20th century and revisit the story as to how they were eradicated. Only then can we arrive at today’s reality over vaccine policy and reach the truth as to the best possible advice that should presently be given to individual patients.(2,3)

Officials at the CDC tell us vaccines are “90 percent safe and effective.” And according to UNICEF, vaccines save the lives of at least 1.5 million children every year. Yet, parents are concerned, and increasingly, dissenting physicians are asking questions and breaking away from the heretofore monolithic medical ranks. Let’s look at the big picture to avoid missing the forest for the trees.

Growing up, I thought deadly infectious diseases had been conquered long ago. Yet, in Cuba, I knew of a girl who died of diphtheria, and my father as a country doctor, diagnosed and treated a case of anthrax and another one of typhus. When I visited Haiti in 1975 as a medical student, I saw cases of tetanus and congenital syphilis. In 1982, while I was chief neurosurgical resident at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, we had in our service, simultaneously, patients with Pott’s Disease, miliary TB with renal involvement and cerebral tuberculoma (for which we were consulted as to possible removal), and tubercular meningitis (for which we were to implant a Rickham reservoir for CNS chemotherapy). Scrofula was the only “classical” TB case missing in our clinical service!

And with the advent of AIDS and other immune deficiency and immunosuppressed states, we have seen in the 1990s a resurgence of tuberculosis and other opportunistic, infectious diseases, e.g., toxoplasmosis, cytomegalovirus (CMV), etc. In my own practice, I treated patients with chronic fungal meningitis and bacterial subdural empyemas requiring surgical evacuation. So, infectious diseases are still with us, and so taking preventive public health measures is prudent in many circumstances when the public is at risk. With this in mind, let’s look at some of these diseases that are specifically salient to our discussion, and try to separate the wheat from the chaff in the debate.

Poliomyelitis

In the 1950s, there were 20,000 cases of polio annually causing more than 1,000 deaths(4); many more thousand victims were left in iron lungs. This was caused because of the predilection of the polio virus for the anterior horn cells of the spinal cord and consequent paralysis of the respiratory muscles. But, what is less known, and this is quite disconcerting to me, is that between 1923-1953, before the Salk (dead virus) vaccine was discovered in 1955, the polio death rate in the U.S. and England declined on its own by 47 percent and 55 percent, respectively.(5) This is not reported or discussed by the public health establishment but, it seems, only by independent researchers (Figure 1); neither is the fact that European countries, which didn’t systematically immunize their citizens, also experienced a precipitous decline in their polio morbidity and mortality statistics.

And yet, between 1951-1954, before immunization, there were still more than 16,000 cases of polio and nearly 1,900 deaths. It was not until 1991 that polio was virtually eradicated from the U.S. and other nations of the Western Hemisphere. There is no question that in this case better hygiene and sanitation and better living conditions were bringing down the number of cases of polio, but the vaccine itself, finally, was probably responsible for dispatching the final blows to the disease.

Today the disease has been completely eradicated, except for the fact that with the advent of the Sabin (live virus) vaccine in 1959, there had been iatrogenic cases of polio (up to 8 cases per year) that had developed due to activation and infection by the live oral polio virus in the vaccine. Due to this fact, in June 1999, the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) began advising doctors to use the Salk (dead virus) injected vaccine rather than the oral vaccine containing the live virus.(6)

A title, the meaning of which is perhaps illusive.
The content of this post and the beauty of the image, are however, absolutely clear in their meanings.
I am moved to reblog because I see a great depth of human understanding and appreciation.
