Ideology is the Problem

I am rudely copying this verbatim for my own benefit. Readers please follow the link  to find an interesting blog.

A philosophy that is not easy to absorb, but the thrust is important to understand, if one’s reasoning is to be sound and our beliefs/decisions more independent from our inner ingrained indoctrination. It is very clear that most people, from “on the street” to politicians and world “movers and shakers” are fueled by idealism and as such, are incapable of impartial, independent decision-making.

Ideology is the Problem

i·de·ol·o·gy
noun
1. a system of ideas and ideals, especially one that forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy.

It is my goal as an intellectual and skeptic to purge myself of all ideology, as much as possible. I have come to understand that it is ideology, in its broadest sense, that is largely the enemy of reason. This includes not only political and economic ideology, but also religious, social, and historical.

At its core, an ideology is something you believe because you believe it. It is a moral and intellectual anchor, as well as a lens through which the world is viewed. I am not implying any sort of equivalency – not all ideologies are created equal. We also come to our ideologies through different paths, some more valid than others. Often we absorb them from our family, our society, and our culture. Genetics may also play a role. We seem to be predisposed to certain political ideologies based upon which values speak to us most loudly. We then take those values as if they were the Truth and proceed from there.

There are even ideologies that we arrive at through valid argument and consideration. I consider scientific skepticism, which values doubt, logic, empiricism, and self-knowledge, as a valid and worthwhile ideology. Even then a belief or value system can be a problem if we treat it like an assumption rather than a conclusion.

Ideologies are more pernicious when they become a source of identity. A challenge to the ideology is then a challenge to the person themselves, to the very core of their being. Ideologies reinforce the worst aspects of our tribal nature, separating the world into us and them – those who have seen the Truth, and those who are mentally deficient or deprived so that they are condemned to wallow in ignorance and confusion.

There is often a moral dimension to ideology. Ideologies make us feel that we are not only correct, we are virtuous, and therefore righteousness compels us to be intolerant of those immoral cretins who offend our ideology.

Ideology also leads to motivated reasoning, to the marshaling of our impressive cognitive abilities not to find the best answer but to defend the answer that the most primitive and emotional parts of our brain have latched onto.  When evidence tends to fit our ideology, we are not motivated to question it. When evidence challenges our ideology, we are very good at finding fault with it.

At this point you are probably nodding in agreement, thinking of all the people in your life who fit the picture I am drawing of the typical ideologue. It is easy to recognize such behavior in others. The real challenge is to recognize it in ourselves. This is because it does not feel like ideology when it is our own beliefs, it feels like Truth.

Ideology is the problem because it leads to closed-mindedness, motivated reasoning, self-righteousness, and political correctness. It tends to stop skeptical inquiry and genuine discourse.

What, then, is the alternative? I think it is best to consider each question unto itself on its own merits. This does not mean ignoring prior probability, or ignoring established science or philosophy. It means considering all of it as objectively as possible. It also means distancing yourself emotionally from any label that might form an identity and serve as a filter for your thinking.

We cannot completely eliminate labels, however. They are useful guideposts and help to organize our thinking. Labels can identify philosophies and principles. For example, I can think about capitalism as a set of ideas and economic principles. I might even consider capitalism to be a valid economic system, and better than the alternatives out there. However, once you cross a fuzzy line to identifying as a capitalist (in philosophy, not vocation) you are motivated to defend capitalism even from legitimate criticism, to downplay its weaknesses, and to view evidence and events through the filter of supporting capitalism.

This is why I no longer identify with any political party. I judge each political issue and candidate on their own merits.

As another example, I would rather say that I accept the current scientific consensus on the validity of evolutionary theory, rather than saying that I am an “evolutionist.”

As an activist skeptic the ideology from which it has been most challenging to distance myself is scientific skepticism. I consider myself a skeptic because that is what I do. I accept the philosophy of scientific skepticism much as I accept the consensus on evolution, because it is supported by logic and evidence. But I have to be careful not to cross the fuzzy line into ideology.

What this means is that I evaluate new claims based upon the relevant science, logic, and evidence, not how it relates to any particular “skeptical” position. It means acknowledging valid arguments even if they are inconvenient for a position that skeptics have traditionally accepted.

In short, I try to treat scientific skepticism as a philosophy rather than an ideology. The difference can be subtle, because superficially both are systems of ideas and principles. Ideology tends to be a fixed top down system of beliefs. Philosophy should be a bottom up system of arguments that is provisional and eternally open to revision.

As a philosophy scientific skepticism is also anti-ideology. It is a system of methods rather than a system of beliefs, and those methods include doubt, self-criticism, and the provisional nature of all knowledge. In fact, in its purest form scientific skepticism holds no beliefs, only the application of methods that form an approach to knowledge. It does not even require the rejection of the supernatural, only adherence to methodological naturalism because science cannot function otherwise. Scientific skepticism is agnostic toward any particular beliefs.

Where language gets tricky is that, as scientific confidence in a particular conclusion mounts the decimal points north of 99% (like, for example, the conclusion that life evolved), accepting the massive scientific probability becomes indistinguishable in everyday practice from “belief.” It is convenient shorthand to say I “believe” in evolution, but really I am saying I accept the overwhelming scientific evidence and thought that leads to the conclusion that life evolved, and there is no alternative theory that is even viable, let alone a serious challenger to evolution. I accept it as an established scientific fact.

But I have to remain open to contrary evidence and the vanishingly small probability that evolution might somehow be wrong, otherwise it becomes an ideology rather than a scientific fact.

It is not easy to be free from ideology. It seems that the human brain slips easily and comfortably into the ideological mode. Rejecting ideology is a high energy state that needs to be forever maintained. The way to do this is by following a valid process rather than specific beliefs, and accepting the provisional nature of all human knowledge.

Of course, if you think I’m wrong I am open to other points of view.

Steven, I sincerely hope that I have not seriously overstepped the responsible mark in sharing your article in this way.

New Claims ‘Murky’ Global Warming Statistics Are ‘Guessed At’

There are many, many scientific factors involved in the evaluation of global temperatures.
The list includes measurement, site selection, selection and use of mathematical and computer processes, interpretation and calculating compensations, establishing local temperatures, then global averages, then trends in order to create and publish truly meaningful conclusions.
At best, the end result might be a reasonably accurate and acceptable “tool” for making confident judgments, scientifically and politically.
At worst, before even considering human behavioural influences, the conclusions may be a compromise, say in comparison with having a complete, comprehensive, global network of uniformly placed temperature sensors with known accuracies and having absolute knowledge of urban heat and any other influences. A compromise that might jeopardize the confidence in conclusions involving tenths of a degree when global extremes range over more than maybe 150 degrees?
The expert scientists who are dealing with all these factors are themselves really another source of variability. Ranging from – those who are fully committed in proving that “global warming” exists, that the warming is significantly due to atmospheric CO2, and that it is the man-made portion of CO2 emissions that will result in catastrophic degradation of our environment and personal well-being, a degradation that they believe can be limited by carbon controls; to those who have laid their reputations on the line in proving the conclusions of the former to be unsubstantiated.
Why does the ‘latter’ group feel so strongly driven to question the “catastrophic global warming” group and their actions?
Firstly it is because there are perceived departures from traditional scientific principles, a suspect reliance on selection of data and processing procedures. A refusal to sensibly and scientifically respond to valid questions. Refusal to admit that their peer review processes are suspect. Clearly refutable (almost laughable), claims of their science having 97% support from the climate scientists. A reliance on computer models that are increasingly shown to be significantly in error. Now, coming to the thrust of this particular post, evidence that deliberate manipulation of temperature data is prevalent.
Secondly, an answer to the question of “why bother to oppose the CAGW movement”? The science adulteration would be enough reason anyway, but there is a much more serious reason.
Because of the claimed catastrophic “warming”, (which BTW, is being blamed for just about any daily, monthly or annual aberrations in the weather and a host of other imagined to be serious environmental issues), the UN is burdening individual countries with demands, financial and political, which are literally destroying their autonomy, and national, business and family economies.
A tangled web! There are volumes, reams (and Tbytes of web pages) of information and debate on all the relevant issues which are going nowhere fast. The climate theorists (whose theories have not been proven to be infallible), are seriously ensconced in the UN political web which cannot hide its world control agenda and which wields enormous power over countries and the mass media.
(Another aside – just how the United Nations organization has managed to establish this enormous power and authority is another question, but it is a relevant one).
“Climate change”, a term without any technical meaning other an indisputable application to all weather, all patterns, past present and future, has been adopted by the CAGW movement as having a meaning of “the climate is changing dangerously because man’s industrial emissions are seriously influencing the climatic environment, therefore you had better change your ways, or else!”
Everywhere in the education system and the media we hear “climate change this….” climate change that….” – an apparent fait accompli !
As a result, the public has been brainwashed from kindergarten through to university, and beyond, to a degree that all the valid science in the world apparently will not dent their enthusiasm nor their inertia in controlling the people.
In the scientific, technical world however, we have a public duty to resist and oppose such a travesty of justice that is dangerously changing our civilization. For the sake of science and civilization, truth and justice!
At last we come to the crux of this reblogging post.
So far, technical, scientific endeavours have been less than effective in changing anything. A few countries are standing up to the UN bullying, but mainly for the economic benefit to themselves, fair enough. But there seems here, to be a technical evaluation that would be of great significance.
WE have claimed, over and over again that temperature data is being fiddled, selected and manipulated. Denials, (from the people who label us ‘deniers’), are inadequate yet they get away with them. This independent review of temperature data and its utilization is a welcome contribution.
It is to be expected that, once again the ‘messenger’ will be shot, but I would expect some real science to emerge, falsifiable science which will prove valid.

Global Warming Theorists – A Modest Suggestion

Not enough to get excited about, but a nice approach and conclusion, and a simple, respectful, factual statement:

“Those folks who are advocating for the destructive power of CO2 on climate have a theory. They have a load of dodgy doctored data, and some woefully inadequate computer models. Their data is about as good as the “Ancient Astronauts Theorists” data (in some ways the AAT folks have better data since it is often physical drawings and ancient writings carved in stone and not adjusted, manipulated, or otherwise corrupted). Their computer models leave out the most important physical parts of the actual process (clouds, variable sun, tides variable with lunar cycles, etc.) and so are about as complete as the speculations of the Ancient Astronaut Theorists. And they have their cherished theory (in both cases). So with that in mind, I have made the modest suggestion that in future they be called “Global Warming Theorists”. I think it fits, and is just about right on the emoto-meter.

I will adopt Mike’s term happily. Always unsure about “warmists” and “alarmists” which were the best that I could ever come up with.
Come to think about, we all (global warming bloggers), are theorists, whichever way we lean, however, our theories are much closer allied to verifiable scientific methods and conclusions, that makes the difference.

Musings from the Chiefio

I have a modest suggestion for the proper term to apply to those who advocate for Global Warming, Climate Change, Catastrophic Climate Change, Weather Weirding, Climate Chaos, {whatever rebranding marketing term of the week they are pushing now}.

There’s been an ongoing series of terms used. Warmers. Warmistas. Global Warming Advocates. Climate Nazis. It’s a long list. Some, like “Warmers” fairly polite. Others intended to denigrate and abuse. I’ve pondered for a while how best to combine a reasonable degree of respect for those who hold the “natural climate denier” POV and advocate for the CO2 driven warming position, while still preserving just a touch of “reservation” about the quality of their conclusions.

I think I’ve finally settled on one.

“Global Warming Theorists”

Smart meter rollout is linked to a rise in disconnections

This is called progress, technology to improve customer service?
Why do I not believe that?

Big business, little people!  Big profits, cold and starvation.

Stop Smart Meters Australia

VICTORIA’s electricity smart meter rollout has been linked to a rise in disconnections.

And fees to pay for the rollout have also pushed up power prices, putting a strain on low-income households, a state inquiry has been told.

Annual disconnections over unpaid bills have more than doubled in five years. Last financial year, 34,448 residential customers were cut off.

The Consumer Action Law Centre has recommended distributors be forced to check on householders and assess their circumstances before acting.

“We are particularly concerned … there is the potential for households to be disconnected in greater numbers,” senior energy policy officer Janine Rayner said.

Retailer Simply Energy has told an Essential Services Commission review of financial hardship arrangements that smart meters were one of the reasons for more cut-offs.

The technology can be used to pull the plug remotely, and “this alone will have increased disconnection rates over the last two…

Measles and Vaccines – some comments.

This post was inspired(?) by the following article:

Measles cases jump as travellers and unvaccinated children hit

“The number of people being diagnosed with measles in Australia hit a 16-year-high in 2014, as scores of travellers brought the potentially fatal disease into the country and unvaccinated children fell victim to it.

Health department data shows a total of 340 measles cases were recorded in Australia during the year, the highest number since 1998. The rate of measles cases also peaked in 2014, with about 15 cases for every million people in Australia.

Australia's measles vaccination program has seen the incidence of the disease fall since the 1990s.Australia’s measles vaccination program has seen the incidence of the disease fall since the 1990s.

While numbers are a fraction of those recorded in the1990s, National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System figures show there were just 10 cases in 2005, the best year on record.

Measles is a highly infectious disease that can cause serious illness, including inflammation of the brain, particularly in very young children and adults.

A couple of thoughts on this issue include the somewhat similar occurrence in the US which has incited a full-scale war on citizens who criticize indiscriminate vaccinations, leading to legislation to remove any non-medical exemptions for refusing vaccinations. In that instance there is much reason to argue the validity of the particular measles incident as a legitimate basis for such draconian measures.

In this instance, were “scores of travellers” the major cause of these outbreaks? Later we come to the “potentially fatal” remark. Did only “unvaccinated children” become affected? Insufficient evidence available  to answer these questions but they need to be answered.

 (NaturalNews) {Was Disneyland measles outbreak caused by recently vaccinated children “shedding” the measles virus?}

Who’s the bigger threat when it comes to spreading infectious disease: the vaccinated or the unvaccinated? If you listen to the mainstream media, unvaccinated children are the archetypal lepers of the modern age, a societal scourge responsible for all disease and the only real obstacle to peace on earth.

But if you can wade through all this mindless propaganda, you’ll discover that vaccinated children are the real danger, at least when it comes to disease spread. Contrary to popular belief, just because you’ve been jabbed doesn’t mean that you’re immortal — the science shows that live-virus vaccines like MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) actually shed for weeks, and sometimes months, following vaccination.

This means that children who were recently injected with MMR, oral polio vaccine and/or other live attenuated vaccines (LAV) are walking disease-carriers. And no, this isn’t some random conspiracy theory spread through one of those mythical Jenny McCarthy chain emails we keep hearing about — it’s a fact that’s widely recognized, albeit quietly, throughout the greater medical community. (http://www.naturalnews.com/048940_measles_outbreak_virus_shedding_disneyland.html)

(NaturalNews) {Measles vaccines kill more people than measles, CDC data proves – NaturalNews.com}

Parents concerned about their vaccinated children potentially contracting measles from unvaccinated children may want to consider the fact that the bigger health threat is technically the vaccine, not the disease itself. Comparative data provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) reveal that nobody has died from measles in more than 10 years, while at least 108 deaths reported in VAERS during the same time frame have been linked to measles vaccines. (http://www.naturalnews.com/048518_measles_vaccines_cdc_data.html)

So much for “potentially fatal”. Political brainwashing! In reality, zero deaths from measles in more than 10 years?  108 VAERS reported (?substantially under-reported) vaccine-related  deaths in the same time, is scientific information, failure to mention that, is political!

Now it seems that this type of public control by the government is surfacing in Australia.

“PARENTS who refuse to vaccinate their kids will be denied up to $15,000 a year in childcare rebates and welfare under tough new rules won by The Sunday Telegraph.  (http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/anti-vaccination-parents-face-15000-welfare-hit-under-no-jab-reforms/story-fnpn118l-1227300073570)

Well, I support those who are offended by this attack on civil liberties, not only in principle, but because there is so much legitimate evidence that there is insufficient justification for such policies, reasons to suggest that there are real political agendas involved and evidence to suggest that the claimed health benefits are not achievable, even possibly negative rather than positive.

This following post is a good source of supporting material for the public to assess and make up their own minds:

Measles Vaccines Part I; Ineffectiveness of Vaccination and Unintended Consequences. ~ by Dr Viera Scheibner (PhD)

“Measles vaccine introduction

Measles vaccination in the US and many other countries started in the early 1960s, at the time when measles was naturally abating and was heading for the 18 year low. That’s why the vaccine seemingly lowered the incidence; however, this was only coincidental with the natural dynamics of measles.

As one of many examples involving all infectious diseases of childhood against which vaccines have been developed, ever since any measles vaccines have been introduced and used in mass proportions, reports of outbreaks and epidemics of measles in even 100% vaccinated populations started filling pages in medical journals.

Reports of serious reactions including deaths also appeared with increasing frequency. They are the subject of a separate essay.

Atypical measles – a new phenomenon only in the vaccinated

It is less well known to the general public that vaccinated children started developing an especially vicious form of measles, due to the altered host immune response caused by the deleterious effect of the measles vaccines. It resisted all orthodox treatment and carried a high mortality rate.

It has become known as atypical measles. (AMS)”

and some other reasons to consider natural immunity as a preferred solution to public health:  (From Part II)

Well-managed natural infectious diseases are beneficial for children.

When infectious diseases of childhood are not mismanaged by the administration of antibiotics, or by suppressing fever, the diseases prime and mature the immune system and also represent developmental milestones.

Having measles not only results in life-long specific immunity to measles, but also in life-long non-specific immunity to degenerative diseases of bone and cartilage, sebaceous skin diseases, immunoreactive diseases and certain tumours as demonstrated by Ronne (1985).

Having mumps protects against ovarian cancer (West 1969).

This is the area that should be researched and the results heeded instead of trying the impossible: to eradicate infectious diseases.

Approaching childhood diseases with common sense and wisdom.

The already quoted large group of Swiss doctors that formed a working committee questioning the Swiss’ Health Department’s policy of mass vaccination with the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine, wrote that up to 1969, at the Basel University Paediatric Clinic, artificial infection with measles was used to treat successfully the nephrotic syndrome (Albonico et al. 1990).

This is a huge issue with so many aspects, for and against and probably neutral. Sufficient reason to consider all these aspects instead of immaturely honing in on politically desired outcomes. Absolutely insufficient justification for mandatory vaccinations because there are too many adverse factors.

Not to be forgotten is that statistics can mislead either deliberately or not. Each country has different environmental health standards and conditions, food, water, sanitation, health education etc. . Often the use of global averages are worse than useless, and again, unscientific.

If the subject of adverse reactions is also considered, the argument for caution and for a clearly independent scientific approach is extremely strong and just.

Nato’s action plan in Ukraine is right out of Dr Strangelove

An interesting review of the Ukraine situation (chaos and madness perhaps?).

From ‘The Guardian” by  .

Commencing with: Men wearing military fatigues in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk

I watched Dr Strangelove the other day. I have seen it perhaps a dozen times; it makes sense of senseless news. When Major TJ “King” Kong goes “toe to toe with the Rooskies” and flies his rogue B52 nuclear bomber to a target in Russia, it’s left to General “Buck” Turgidson to reassure the president. Strike first, says the general, and “you got no more than 10-20 million killed, tops”. President Merkin Muffley: “I will not go down in history as the greatest mass murderer since Adolf Hitler.” General Turgidson: “Perhaps it might be better, Mr President, if you were more concerned with the American people than with your image in the history books.”

The genius of Stanley Kubrick’s film is that it accurately represents the cold war’s lunacy and dangers.

and later:

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the US has ringed Russia with military bases, nuclear warplanes and missiles as part of its Nato enlargement project. Reneging on a US promise to the Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev in 1990 that Nato would not expand “one inch to the east”, Nato has all but taken over eastern Europe. In the former Soviet Caucasus, Nato’s military build-up is the most extensive since the second world war.

In February, the US mounted one of its proxy “colour” coups against the elected government of Ukraine; the shock troops were fascists. For the first time since 1945, a pro-Nazi, openly antisemitic party controls key areas of state power in a European capital. No western European leader has condemned this revival of fascism on the border of Russia. Some 30 million Russians died in the invasion of their country by Hitler’s Nazis, who were supported by the infamous Ukrainian Insurgent Army (the UPA) which was responsible for numerous Jewish and Polish massacres. The Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists, of which the UPA was the military wing, inspires today’s Svoboda party.

Since Washington’s putsch in Kiev – and Moscow’s inevitable response in Russian Crimea to protect its Black Sea fleet – the provocation and isolation of Russia have been inverted in the news to the “Russian threat”. This is fossilised propaganda. The US air force general who runs Nato forces in Europe – General Philip Breedlove, no less – claimed more than two weeks ago to have pictures showing 40,000 Russian troops “massing” on the border with Ukraine. So did Colin Powell claim to have pictures proving there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. What is certain is that Barack Obama’s rapacious, reckless coup in Ukraine has ignited a civil war and Vladimir Putin is being lured into a trap.

That gives the general idea of the article and the importance of everybody understanding the true picture. The complete article is linked here.

(General Breedlove? A misnomer, if ever there was!)

(“Fossilized propaganda”, an excellent term for the US bullshit that the public seem to prefer to believe).

Carbon Week: The sun raises the seas

Two things I like about this article.
It is scientific and educational, about a very important issue.
It seems that more and more regular news publishers are openly coming on board with the critics of global warming alarmism, or at least are prepared to publish genuine attempts to balance the shameful bias attached to the CAGW movement.

Worried About Clogged Arteries? Drink This.

Close-to-home health advice:

From ‘eat local grown’ an article which supports my approach to dealing with blocked arteries.

Millions take toxic cholesterol and blood pressure lowering drugs that may do nothing to reduce heart disease specific mortality. Pomegranate juice, on the other hand, actually reverses underlying pathologies of the cardiovascular system that lead to bypass surgeries and heart attacks.

One of the most amazing clinical studies ever performed has been hidden away behind a pay wall for over a decade. When I first stumbled upon this clinical pearl two years ago, in the form of the publicly indexed abstract on pubmed.gov, my jaw nearly dropped. I’ve finally acquired the full version of the study and am now excited to report on its implications in greater depth to help raise awareness about the power of pomegranate to heal the body, and I believe, save millions lives from premature death from heart disease.

The most eye-opening line in the abstract reveals why our original report on the study, How To Clean Your Arteries With One Simple Fruit, received over 500,000 social media shares:

“Pomegranate juice consumption resulted in a significant IMT [intima media thickness] reduction, by up to 30%, after 1 year.”

We shouldn’t be that surprised at how great an interest there is among the masses in safe, delicious, and affordable drug alternatives that have the power to unclog arteries? Certainly the drugs aren’t working, with the most popular class — cholesterol-lowering statins — being linked to over 300 adverse health effects. But sometimes the technical language of medicine gets confusing: what does this pomegranate-induced reduction in the intima media thickness (IMT) of the arteries mean?

Reducing The Intima Media Thickness: Reversing Atherosclerosis

The intima media is the middle portion of the arteries that become inflamed and fill up with plaque comprised of oxidized fats, immune cells, and their debris, in the condition known colloquially as “blocked arteries.” As the intima media grows thicker, less space is available for the blood contents to move through the opening (lumen) of the arteries. When the arteries eventually close or are blocked, catastrophic injury or death may follow. Therefore, anything that can safely reduce, or better, reverse intima media thickening is the holy grail as far as obtaining a root cause resolution of artherosclerosis, and by implication would profoundly reduce deaths linked to cardiovascular mortality.

IMT

Indeed, in a world where the #1 cause of death is cardiovascular disease, and where we preemptively medicate millions more with drugs that only reduce surrogate markers for cardiovascular disease risk – i.e. lipoproteins carrying cholesterol – without showing any convincing evidence that it is reducing cardiovascular disease or all-cause mortality, how could something as simple and powerful as pomegranate be overlooked? In fact, if a simple daily dietary intervention is capable of regressing and/or reversing the underlying disease process in millions of fatal cardiac cases, it would seem highly unethical not to use it.

Here, we wish to bring some of the finer details of this clinical trial to light, to further substantiate the value of botanical and food-based interventions not only in preventing but treating major chronic disease processes like cardiovascular disease, the developed world’s most deadly disease.

The Pomegranate “Artery Cleaning” Clinical Trial:

Read all about it here!

My story as told on FB:

“This supports other information that was available when i was diagnosed with blocked arteries and in fact had a stent installed for one complete blockage.
That was 3 years ago. Other partial blockages were observed in the 50% range.
Since then I have drunk a small glass of of-the-shelf (POM) pomegranate juice every morning, do not suffer from noticeable problems, but cannot assess what blockages still exist or have developed. Cardiologist tests apparently only detect 60% plus blockages.
Interesting point from this post – it suggests higher LDL figures might result, which is exactly what I am experiencing, much to GP’s and cardiologist’s dismay.
Have refused statins after initial adverse reactions but the pressure for LDL cholesterol lowering is strong from the medics.
Living in hope!”

ISIS Origins and Supporters.

Some interesting articles, somewhat based on the same newly released documents but offering different explanations and insights into what looks like the real world. Now what can you believe in the mainstream press? Perhaps you are reading the wrong newspapers and listening to suspect news on TV?

Why are we (Australia) involved in such a tangle web of deceit?

Now the truth emerges: how the US fuelled the rise of Isis in Syria and Iraq   4 June 2015

A ‘The Guardian‘ post:

The war on terror, that campaign without end launched 14 years ago by George Bush, is tying itself up in ever more grotesque contortions. On Monday the trial in London of a Swedish man, Bherlin Gildo, accused of terrorism in Syria, collapsed after it became clear British intelligence had been arming the same rebel groups the defendant was charged with supporting.

Secret Pentagon Report Reveals US “Created” ISIS As A “Tool” To Overthrow Syria’s President Assad

From the first sudden, and quite dramatic, appearance of the fanatical Islamic group known as ISIS which was largely unheard of until a year ago, on the world’s stage and which promptly replaced the worn out and tired al Qaeda as the world’s terrorist bogeyman, we suggested that the “straight to beheading YouTube clip” purpose behind the Saudi Arabia-funded Islamic State was a simple one: use the Jihadists as the vehicle of choice to achieve a political goal: depose of Syria’s president Assad, who for years has stood in the way of a critical Qatari natural gas pipeline, one which could dethrone Russia as Europe’s dominant – and belligerent – source of energy, reaching an interim climax with the unsuccessful Mediterranean Sea military build up of 2013, which nearly resulted in quasi-world war.

The narrative and the plotline were so transparent, even Russia saw right through them.

Obama ordered CIA to train ISIS jihadists: Declassified documents

From ‘The Examiner‘  May 26, 2015

U.S. intelligence documents released to a government watchdog confirms the suspicions that the United States and some of its so-called coalition partners had actually facilitated the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) as an effective adversary against the government of the Syrian dictator President Bashar al-Assad. In addition, ISIS members were initially trained by members and contractors of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) at facilities in Jordan in 2012.
