Northcote resident says smart meter caused her tinnitus | Herald Sun

I wonder why she is prepared to stand so close to the meter? Nevertheless, the power company should be taking notice of all complaints and acccepting responsibility.

Stop Smart Meters Australia

A Northcote woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, believes the smart meter installed on the front of her home has caused her to suffer tinnitus.

She says her pleas to an electricity provider to get rid of the smart meter she’s blaming for her tinnitus are falling on deaf ears.

She is calling for residents to have access to an opt-out clause similar to Holland and the UK where people can refuse similar technology.

She said she started getting tinnitus – a condition that causes ringing in the ears – after moving into her house, which has a smart meter installed next to her bedroom.

“I’m just exhausted because I can’t get any sleep with the constant ringing in my ears – sometimes it’s so bad I feel as if my head’s going to explode,” she said.

“Even when I sleep in another room in the house, I still get…

Baby Teeth. Maybe Another Study Will Save The Adults.

A forthright, provocative article, which, if correct. is scary.
Should not be dismissed without serious consideration.

Video Rebel's Blog

On November 24, 1961 the journal Science published an article that reported a study of Baby Teeth in the St Louis area. The project focused on Strontium 90 which can replace calcium in bones. The women of the world were outraged at the levels of Strontium 90 because their hips are close to unborn children in their wombs. Children absorb radiation more rapidly than do adults because they are growing. That is why Baby Teeth studies can motivate change.

President Kennedy was able to use the Baby Tooth study to gather public support to sign the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty on August 5, 1963 in Moscow. This treaty banned nuclear bomb tests in the atmosphere and in outer space. Leuren Moret said that one reason for the American government to have hyped the polio epidemic was to cover up the damage done to young children from above ground nuclear tests…

Vote Against Smart Meters

Stop Smart Meters Australia

Armchair activists: here’s your chance  to make a difference, with just a few clicks of your fingers!

OurSay, in conjunction with Deakin University, is giving the public an opportunity to pose questions to Senate candidate and WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange.

The following question regarding  smart meters is one of the contenders:

“Wireless smart meters breach people’s privacy, increase costs to the consumer, cause serious health problems, adversely affect pets, livestock, wildlife and bees, and damage homes and appliances. What do you believe is the real reason governments around the world are inflicting (wireless) smart meters on unwilling consumers and what will the Wikileaks Party do about smart meters, if elected?”

Each voter is given 7 votes to be used on any question(s) they choose.  Julian Assange will be asked the top five voted questions on August 16th.

Click on the link below to register YOUR votes for this question.  You can assign all…

Emergency Declared at Fukushima

Fukushima *

From ‘nsnbc‘, the latest on the Fukushima catastrophe. The level of health danger to the whole world cannot be exaggerated. The poor Japanese are in for a torrid future. The rest of the world cannot escape serious consequences and should be made aware of all the risks. (Refer News You Don’t Want to Read About Fukushima ). There is much more involving food chains and air quality that extends globally.

The degree of denial and cover up associated with this drastic situation is a disgrace to the human race.  Amazingly, many still believe that nuclear power is ‘safe’ enough to continue its use and further development.

Admittedly, if a transfer to Thorium Salt Reactors ( refer  China claims it leads the way with safe nuclear energy by using thorium), was being seriously and urgently implemented, the world would seem to have a better future. Not without issues (refer Nuclear Power – Thorium Reactors ) but that is another story altogether. Strange how money is available for mega-war destruction but energy production ‘has’ to be established on a mega-profit-making level.

Anyway, back to the point, large-scale death and maiming from Fukushima.

Christof Lehmann (nsnbc),After a 6.0 earthquake shook Fukushima on Sunday, the crippled nuclear power plant has attracted renewed national and international attention. Now, Shinji Kinjo, the head of Japan´s Nuclear Regulatory Authority, NRA, admits to a Reuters journalist, that “right now, we have an emergency”

Fukushima crippled reactorOn Sunday, an earthquake, measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale, shook the Fukushima Prefecture in Japan. The epicenter of Sunday´s earthquake was near the epicenter of the 2011, 9.0 earthquake, that caused the death of more than 15.000 during a subsequent Tsunami, and which crippled the Fukushima Daiichi power plant, causing the meltdown of the core of several reactors, and as some experts claim, the meltdown of stored fuel rods.

The earthquake on Sunday directed renewed national and international attention to the situation at the crippled Fukushima power plant. The immediate response from the side of the operator of the plant, TEPCO, was that the earthquake had not caused any new or additional damage.

However, in July it transpired, that the plant continues leaking highly radioactive contaminated water directly into the Pacific Ocean. Now, the head of Japan´s Nuclear Regular Authority, NRA, admits that “Right now, we have an emergency”.

Approximately 400 tons of groundwater percolate into the basements of the crippled plant every day. There, the groundwater mixes with the water, which is pumped into the plant in the, according to some sources desperate” attempts to cool down the reactor cores which are in a state of meltdown. The temperature of the cores however, continues to rise. The highly contaminated water is escaping directly into the Pacific Ocean.

On Sunday, a nuclear physicist stated to nsnbc international, on condition of anonymity, that the situation at Fukushima can best be described as an open air nuclear power plant in meltdown mode, with the cooling water being pumped directly into the ocean.

Moreover, the contaminated water is also entering the surface soil and the groundwater. The consequences could be described as catastrophic.

Scientific misconduct in medicine.

From ‘Doc’s Opinion’, another helpful article, at least helpful to me in supporting my cynical attitude to what I consider the adulteration of science and its practices, becoming more obvious each day. Partly more obvious because of the extent of the internet, but seemingly also because of the increasing disregard of correct and moral, scientific standards and practices by practitioners who are adversely influenced by greed and self-interest.

Gross Misconduct

Gross Misconduct (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Part of ‘Doc’s Opinion’ article ” “You know nothing Jon Snow” – Scientific misconduct in medicine.” linked here.

When it comes to medical knowledge I´m aware that there is very little I know and very much I don´t know. I allow myself to be comforted by the old words of Socrates: “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing”.

However, I know I can improve. Seeking knowledge has always been among my highest priorities. My fountain of information is the medical literature and tons of results from scientific studies. In order to be a better doctor, I can literally bathe every day in a pool of fresh scientific data from peer reviewed medical journals. Afterwards I will sense the strength of increased wisdom in my veins. I will be wiser than yesterday. I will be better suited to take care of my patients and educate my coworkers.

But, today there is foul-smelling from my fountain of medical knowledge. The past week saw some new twists in the tale of a prominent Japanese cardiologist, Dr Hiroaki Matsubara, accused of fabricating and manipulating data for cardiology research later published in a range of cardiology journals. Last year, the American Heart Association (AHA)  issued a notice of concern about five of Matsubara´s papers appearing in three of their journals, Circulation, Circulation Research, and Hypertension, between 2001 and 2004. Recently, the American Heart Association retracted these papers.

Concerns about Dr Matsubara also involve the Kyoto Heart
Study presented at the European Society of Cardiology 2009 Congress and later published in the European Heart Journal. This publication was later retracted by the journal.

A few days ago, Japan’s minister of health, Norihisa Tamura, as well as university officials at Kyoto Prefectural University announced that the Kyoto Heart Study data were “very likely” fabricated.  ”Incomplete” patient data were used in the study, which concluded that the blood-pressure drug Valsartan reduced cardiovascular events via mechanisms unrelated to blood-pressure lowering. Had “complete patient records” been used, the study would have reached “a different conclusion,” the university concluded. Finally, it has also emerged that two employees from the pharmaceutical company Novartis were involved in the conduct and analysis of the Kyoto Heart Study, as well a another trial, the Jikei Heart study. However, their participation was not acknowledged in publications and presentations of the data.

All of us know that the case of Matsubara is not unique. However, we don´t know whether it is just the tip of the iceberg or if this is a rare event. All we know is that scientific  misconduct in medicine should not exist. However, I fear it is much more common than we realize. [My emphasis].

Medical science is about seeking knowledge and testing hypotheses in order to be able to move forward, and increase our understanding of health and disease. But there is another, sometimes darker side to it.
It is characterized by ambition, competition, need for acknowledgement, and an obsession to get there first. The words “greed”, “ruthlessness” and “dishonesty” may even sometimes be appropriate. Obviously, there is risk of foul play.

When I started my blog I thought I was well suited, due to my
education and knowledge, to provide my readers with reliable information about heart disease and cardiovascular prevention. My strength was my knowledge of the medical literature, and how to interpret scientific data. However, if the literature is contaminated with falsified and manipulated data, I wonder: How much do I really know?

The sadness of the author’s realization of the reality of the corruption in extent and depth, is revealed here and must be a warning to the others in this industry who need to also wonder “How much do I really know?”  I suggest, a lesson to be learned by many.
