Papers which are at least as meaningful as those used for the IPCC conclusions. In fact much more so because they are actually on the ball!
I thought it might be relevant to include here an excerpt from the source article:
Purpose: To provide a resource for peer-reviewed papers that support skeptic arguments against ACC/AGW or ACC/AGW Alarm and to prove that these papers exist contrary to widely held beliefs,
“You realize that there are something like two or three thousand studies all of which concur which have been peer reviewed, and not one of the studies dissenting has been peer reviewed?“
– John Kerry, U.S. Senator and Failed 2004 U.S. Presidential Candidate
“There was a massive study of every scientific article in a peer reviewed article written on global warming in the last ten years. They took a big sample of 10 percent, 928 articles. And you know the number of those that disagreed with the scientific consensus that we’re causing global warming and that is a serious problem out of the 928: Zero. The misconception that there is disagreement about the science has been deliberately created by a relatively small number of people.“
– Al Gore, Former U.S. Vice President and Failed 2000 U.S. Presidential Candidate
“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told by AGW voices that there are NO qualified skeptics or peer reviewed/published work by them. Including right here by RC regulars. In truth there is serious work and questions raised by significant work by very qualified skeptics which has been peer reviewed and published. It should be at least a bit disturbing for this type of denial to have been perpetrated with such a chorus. It’s one thing to engage and refute. But it’s not right to misrepresent as not even existing the counter viewpoints. I fully recognize the adversarial environment between the two opposing camps which RC and CA/WUWT represent, but the the perpetual declaration that there is no legitimate rejection of AGW is out of line.“
Many thoughts arise from this article. Mainly that there are numerable ways of measuring or estimating the global temperature trend, numerable ways of interpreting such measurements and numerable uncertainties and degrees of uncertainty.
However, and I re-iterate this ad nauseum because it is logically true, that the climate science is not settled, nor is it sufficiently understood or accurately assessed, to be a logical basis for political and financial restructuring throughout the world.
This article, posted by Ed Morrissey. ‘Hot Air’, is also posted at ‘Digging in the Clay‘ but I had trouble downloading the video. It becomes self-explanatory, in its reference to CAGW and the reality of the CAGW enthusiasts being ‘hooked’ on the theory with insufficient regard for the real world. Bill Whittle informs us effectively.
I believe that relevance to the presence of a mind-set might well explain the differences in interpreting real world data depending on the approach. Of course, there is also an agenda issue, coupled with financial dependence in many cases.
In 1 Timothy 6:10, the Bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil (not money itself, as many mistakenly believe). PJ Media’sBill Whittle makes the case that the love of theory is the root of all modern evil, as he explains in his new Afterburner. And he has a pretty good point, at least over the last 100 years. Dedication to theory at the expense of evidence and fact has borne malicious fruit in that time, resulting in the deaths of tens of millions around the world.
I’d only quibble with Bill on one point, which is whether the theories themselves were really the end games at all. They certainly weren’t for Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, or any of the other bloody tyrants of the age; it was the centralization of wealth and power into the hands of the few or the one. Theories such as Marxism and fascism were a means to an end, not the end itself. In all of these systems, and perhaps most honestly in fascism, the entire premise is based on a leader elite dictating economic choices by force to a captive population, couched in a proletarian veneer that allowed the leader elite to seize control. The only people who prospered in those systems were the ones who didn’t take the theories too seriously. The true believers — Leon Trotsky comes to mind — tend to end up dead.
In this case, Bill’s not talking about theoretical systems of government or economics, but of climate change. This still applies, though it’s not as dire as the above examples. Some of the AGW crowd are true believers; more, though, are motivated by the expropriation of private property and redistributive justice. In fact, during the climate-change conferences, much of what gets discussed relates to “climate justice” and the disparities between wealthy nations and developing nations. It’s not really the theory that people love — it’s the wealth and power they can grab by exploiting the theory.
As mentioned elsewhere, the video may become hidden behind a pay-wall. Please advise if this happens.
my terrorism suspicion slip (Photo credit: langalex)
This Sott.net post from RT.com, clearly reveals that citizens, not only those in the US, can be feeling free yet be within one minor incident away from being treated as a terrorist. The article shows that millions of people already meet the authorities’ criteria of a terrorist, just because of their thought and belief processes.
To me, the authorities and leaders who are actively engaged in sabotaging their own countries are the real terrorists, and they are making the rules. If this isn’t scary, it ought to be!
Are you suspicious of federal authority? How about really into individual liberty? Well according to a new study funded by the US Department of Homeland Security, you very well might be a terrorist.
A report published earlier this year by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland has surfaced, and in their DHS-funded findings, Americans “reverent of individual liberty” and others adamant about protecting their personal freedoms are categorized as extreme right-wing terrorists.
Of course it will make no difference to the global temperature. They know that, and are introducing the tax for another (other) reason (s).
Julia suggests we won’t notice the tax effect on our normal life styles. Yet there is a certain amount of compensation given to the public. The likelihood of the compensation being fair and equitable is as likely to come true as most of Julia’s other promises have (not).
There will almost certainly be global cooling, but not because of reduced CO2 emissions. The global temperature, even excessively fiddled, still does not show a real dependence on CO2 levels. In reality the planet is currently in a cooling phase, whilst the atmospheric CO2 level steadily rises and will continue to do so, with or without the Australian component.
As a hot and dry continent, Australia has more to lose from climate change than all other developed countries. There are significant risks to our environment and our economy.
This is what they would have you believe will be happening – so what is different from the last 200,000 years? Has no one read Dorothea Mackellar’s Poem recently?
Janet Albrechtsenhas a similar thought in mind (to my own) when she says:
The government informs us, more than once, that the carbon tax will “cut 160 million tonnes of pollution from the atmosphere each year”. But not once does the government inform us by how much the carbon tax will reduce…
