US propaganda facilitated by changes in the Constitution

The bill’s supporters say the informational material used overseas to influence foreign audiences is too good to not use at home, and that new techniques are needed to help fight Al-Qaeda, a borderless enemy whose own propaganda reaches Americans online.

Freedom in Iceland

Congratulations Icelandic People!  Here’s a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. Greece, take notice! All countries take notice. It might be too hard, BUT it is certainly exactly what is needed to combat the world domination schemes. Exactly what is needed to free the people from control and oppression. [H/T to TIP]

Kale’s Powerhouse Nutrients

Great post, excited about reblogging it!

Great to diversify topics. All important to me, whether eating healthy or trying to understand the madness that this world seems to thrive on.

As John Lennon so beautifully wrote, ‘Imagine there being peace’ and we could revel in health and happinesss. In the meantime, it is nice to forget for a while the evil and destruction, instead to eat and drink healthily, enjoy music, friendship and nature.

Doubt Cast on the ‘Good’ in ‘Good Cholesterol’

This Sott.net information is reproduced here as a page in ‘Cardiac Health’

The name alone sounds so encouraging: HDL, the “good cholesterol.” The more of it in your blood, the lower your risk of heart disease. So bringing up HDL levels has got to be good for health.

Or so the theory went.

AGW – A comprehensive review of the Australian BOM ACORN -SAT analysis

Ken’s comprehensive analysis appears to be authentic. It suggests at least that the authenticity is demonstrably better than that of the BOM. Net inference is that the BOM data processing leaves something to be desired, contains suspicious manipulations with insufficient transparent justification which tend to bias the trend to a higher warming, and that they display a reluctance to respond to what could be termed “peer-review” by the panel.
The article’s conclusion is inserted here for the reader’s interest.

“The Bureau’s responses to all of the review panel’s recommendations are listed here. Some are very enlightening: BOM appears to be not as keen on public accessibility as the review panel recommends! BOM is quite happy to calculate monthly means for months with up to 12 missing days. No mention is made of short length sites.

Let the review panel have the final say (my emphasis):

The Panel’s overall confidence is derived from its close examination of the Bureau’s observation practices, its network selection methodology, its approach to data homogenisation, and its methodologies for the analysis of trends. All of these factors need to be satisfactorily handled before stakeholders can be confident about findings based on the data; a failure in any one of these factors will result in a loss of stakeholders’ confidence in the system as a whole. But the confidence of public stakeholders needs always to be nurtured in other ways as well. For that reason the Panel has placed special emphasis in its report on the need for good communications and greater transparency of the development and operations of the ACORN-SAT system. A side benefit of this transparency for the Bureau is that useful suggestions for improvements and refinements to the ACORN-SAT system will almost certainly be made.”

“We can only hope!”

Update, April 2014

Readers may have come to this site via a poster campaign, featuring (with my permission) graphs of adjustments to minimum temperatures at Rutherglen, Victoria.  The graphs show comparisons of unadjusted daily temperatures as shown at Climate Data Online, with temperatures downloaded from the Acorn site (see below.)   The daily temperatures have been smoothed with a 365 day running mean and linear trends are shown.  The amount of adjustment in the Acorn data is clear.  Pleased read on for a full explanation.

Introduction

In March 2012, a new daily temperature reconstruction was released, called the Australian Climate Observations Reference Network- Surface Air Temperatures, or ACORN-SAT (Acorn).  It appears that the previous “High Quality” Annual and Daily series will be quietly forgotten, as it had become apparent that they had significant, but never admitted, problems (see my previous posts: The Australian Temperature…

Peer-reviews – Merit not to be taken for granted!

There is much to be said about ‘peer-review’, in fact much has already been said. It is a mainstay argument used by the AGW warmists. Their particular variety of peer-review has come under serious and IMHO, deserved criticism.

This article is a commonsense look at the subject.
It would be wise to evaluate peer-reviews as to their credibility rather than accept them at face value.

…or else!

Though it is seldom addressed, the line between peer review and peer pressure is razor-thin. Interestingly, one of science’s strongest “selling points”, as scientismatics would have it, is that science is driven by professional group-think.

Allow me a small burst of theatrical nerdistry.

Common Man 1: What happen?

Common Man 2: Someone set up us the borg-mind!

Scientismatic: Hello, gentlemen, you have no time to decide. Folk-theory resistance is futile. ALL YOUR BELIEFS ARE BELONG TO US!

We Are Heading Into A Little Ice Age

Great Britain: A historic snowfall blanketed Great Britain on Jan. 7 this year. A strong high-pressure mode of a pattern called the Arctic Oscillation pushed the jet stream further south and allowed Arctic air masses to invade Northern Europe in December and January, making for unusually severe and cold weather. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

From ‘The 4th Media’, an ‘infowars’ post linked here

Here we have another point of view. It has support from other sources. It may lack peer-review but how does one define peer-review? Is peer-review reliable as a scientific gauge if the peers are friends and of the same beliefs or agenda?

Does this point of view have scientific validity? I suggest that it does, without doubt at least as much,  much more than the claimed validity of CO2 having a direct and substantial influence on global temperature.

My wish is for the “ice age” hypothesis to be wrong. If not, we are in for a far worse civilization crisis than a couple of degreesC increase would likely cause. A couple of degreesC that is basically speculation and far from probable.

AGW – Australian scientist peddles garbage and the public are gullible!

Flannery peddles cherry-picking, scientific garbage. This is the so-called science that drives the Australian government to introduce a carbon tax. It also drives the Australian economy downhill and the thinking Australian public to distraction.

Vaccine safety – monitoring program for public benefit or information control?

Although there are uncertainties and the intentions might, at a stretch of a sympathetic imagination, be honourable, the conclusion states:

“This last point, in particular, raises questions about the true purpose of the GRUVSS initiative. It seems plausible that the initiative is actually an attempt to control information about vaccine safety. After all, a global program like this may make it easier to prevent information about high rates of adverse reactions to vaccines from becoming public knowledge before government agencies have a chance to act. It would also make it easier to suppress data if necessary to continue selling more and more vaccines.

We hope these are just groundless fears, and that this is actually a program to monitor the reality of unsafe vaccines. However, based on the track records of the organizations involved, we really cannot help assuming the worst.”

The Vaccine Xchange

A recent announcement from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raises some interesting questions about the ways in which we track vaccine safety. The FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research has declared its intention to launch a new program titled the “Global Regulatory Utilization of Vaccine Safety and Surveillance (GRUVSS) initiative.” The aim of this new program is to ensure the safety of vaccines manufactured worldwide by doing the following:

  1. Ensuring the safety of vaccinated people by helping developing countries to create “at least a minimal capacity for vaccine safety activities”
  2. Enhancing capacity for vaccine safety assessment in countries that manufacture and use either new or prequalified vaccines
  3. Encouraging “international collaboration, training and information exchange.”

On the face of it, this effort sounds like something vaccine safety advocates could definitely get behind. And indeed, it could be that the GRUVSS initiative finally launches a healthy tradition of demanding…
