HPV Vaccine Marketing criticised

Gardasil vaccine and box

An extract from ‘The Vaccine Xchange’ post titled “The Marketing of the HPV Vaccine”:

“In other words, your doctor very likely bases his or her attitude towards Gardasil on the information he or she received from Gardasil’s manufacturer, instead of some independent research authority.

A 2009 Special Communication from the Journal of the American Medical Association explores this particular marketing tactic, noting that, “By making this vaccine’s target disease cervical cancer, the sexual transmission of HPV was minimized, the threat of cervical cancer to all adolescents maximized, and the subpopulations most at risk [women in developing countries] practically ignored.” As a result, in 2006, Gardasil was named the pharmaceutical “Brand of the Year” for building “a market out of thin air.” It’s no wonder that, according to Merck’s CEO, the campaign proceeded “flawlessly.”

The complete disregard for medical ethics seems to be a feature of the HPV vaccine marketing campaign. In India, a clinical trial of the vaccine was abandoned after an investigation revealed that the trial violated national and international guidelines regarding clinical research as well as the rights of children. There, as in the U.S., the vaccine had been marketed to medical associations, whose uncritical acceptance of the manufacturer’s claims resulted in this completely unethical study that lead to the six post-vaccination deaths. Meanwhile, in France, several Gardasil advertisements were found to violate national health codes as they made false claims regarding vaccine effectiveness.”

Factors other than marketing, see ‘related articles’, add to the criticisms and even suggest  motivations other than profits.  Safety aspects have also been raised.

Mediterranean diet and reduced calorie intake promote brain health and longevity

Mediterranean diet (close up)

From ‘Natural News‘ an article by John Philip.

(NaturalNews) Researchers have long theorized that a Mediterranean diet full of vegetables, fruit, fish, nuts, seeds and olive oil can help promote good health. Scientists at the Sahlgrenska Academy in Sweden reporting in the European journal AGE provide the unanimous results: four independent studies demonstrate this style of eating not only lowers the risk from many chronic and potentially fatal diseases, but actually also extends healthy lifespan in aging adults. A separate research body appearing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) explains that calorie restriction or consuming about twenty-five percent fewer calories each day, turns on a molecule that helps the brain stay young. Extrapolating the results of both studies suggests that following a Mediterranean diet with fewer calories may provide a valuable key to preserving memory, lowering risk of serious illness and extending a healthy life span.
Swedish researchers studied the effects of a Mediterranean diet on older people in the Swiss population. They developed a unique study designed to compare 70-year-olds, who eat a Mediterranean diet, with others, who have eaten more meat and animal products. The intent was to confirm the positive results suggested by a myriad of studies over the past decade that found a diet low in animal meats and high in fresh vegetables and monounsaturated fats can improve health and extend lifespan.

Researchers: Delay Breastfeeding to “Improve” Vaccination?

A baby having milk from a bottle.

Image via Wikipedia

I am following an interesting thread in this part of the cyber-world. By ‘this part’ I am referring to the website networking associating this ‘Golden Rule’ site with sites of like interests. In this particular instance, health issues – failure of authorities to prioritise health above profits, failure to issue adequate information to the public and the undue, even corrupt, influence of pharma companies over/within the so-called watch-dog organizations.

This has lead to a site worthy of attention, now added to the ‘Health Issues’ links below right, “GreenMedInfo”.

To introduce them, here is an interesting post from their site, under the title as used above:

Over the course of the past few years we have been gathering studies from the US National Library of Medicine on the adverse, unintended health effects of vaccination, in an attempt to offset the one-sided propaganda foisted upon the public, namely, that all vaccines are unequivocally “safe” and “effective” a priori.

Along the way, we happened upon a 2010 study published in the Journal of Pediatric Infections & Diseases which has been shared more than any other article on our database, and which suggests that breastfeeding should be delayed in order to prevent immune factors within breast milk from inactivating vaccine-associated antibody titer elevations and “vaccine potency.” The concluded the study with the following statement:

“INTERPRETATION: The lower immunogenicity and efficacy of rotavirus vaccines in poor developing countries could be explained, in part, by higher titers of IgA and neutralizing activity in breast milk consumed by their infants at the time of immunization that could effectively reduce the potency of the vaccine. Strategies to overcome this negative effect, such as delaying breast-feeding at the time of immunization, should be evaluated.”

It is not difficult to comprehend what caused the flurry of interest in this study. Readers were  obviously disturbed by the suggestion that women in the underdeveloped world temporarily stop breast feeding (often the only source of infant nutrition) in order to increase the vaccine’s purported “efficacy.”  Are we to assume that these breast milk deprived infants should consume formula* in the interim?  And to what end? So that the vaccine can generate a temporary spike in antibody production, which is no measure of real-world effectiveness?

*Note: Infant formula has been linked to 48 adverse effects, including increased mortality.

Let’s see if I understand this – breast-feeding mothers are being asked to stop (even if temporarily), to enable vaccines to work better, because the breast milk has the natural properties of generating immunities which interfere with the vaccines.

Would it make sense to let the natural immunity system do its job and then after the breast-feeding phase is ended, PERHAPS vaccinate, IF it really can help further protect the baby. Given the likes of the following report, relying on the natural system to protect the baby’s health might be preferable?

From the Related Article : “New glycoconjugate vaccine prototype is 100 times better than traditional glycoconjugate vaccine “. “New glycoconjugate vaccine prototype is 100 times better than traditional glycoconjugate vaccine Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) researchers have  created a vaccine that is more potent than traditional vaccines available today. The glycoconjugate vaccine prototype is 100 times more effective than traditional glycoconjugate vaccines.”

Think about it! IF the existing vaccine is 100 times less effective than something new, how can it possibly have been of any real use at all?

There are so many issues here, all of them potentially creating health outcomes worse rather than better, to various degrees. All of them lacking in sound scientific practices and of dubious motivations.

The aim is to raise the awareness of the reader to the many questions being legitimately raised about vaccinations. These websites provide genuine alternative viewpoints and information. You now have access to a few, in fact many. Good luck in sorting out the facts and probabilities, in your own particular cases.

Fukushima Radiation Fatal to US babies.

Location of Fukushima Tokyo=Metropolis

Image via Wikipedia

What is of significance here is that radiation dangers are being taken seriously by health authorities.

In addition, if deaths are resulting in the US, how much more health devastation must be occurring closer to, and inside, Japan.

Health issues have not been readily admitted by the Japanese authorities and press. Perhaps just now, they are being forced to admit that issues exist, and that some action is deemed to necessary. Ref: http://fukushima-diary.com/2012/01/japanese-government-is-preparing-for-the-rapid-increase-of-sickness-from-radiation/

But they are still claiming safe environments where they are probably are known to be not safe. For example, emissions are still occurring: http://fukushima-diary.com/2012/01/water-level-is-still-decreasing-at-reactor-4/

(Above references from “Fukushima Diaries“.)

Now, from ‘Natural Health News’:

“Study: Fukushima killed at least 14,000 people in the US, mostly babies, in weeks following disaster”,  by Jonathan Benson.

(NaturalNews) For the very first time, a scientific study published in a peer-reviewed journal has come up with a solid estimate of the total number of US deaths caused by the Fukushima nuclear disaster in the weeks following it. Epidemiologist Joseph Mangano, MPH, MBA, and his colleagues say that, based on compiled data, at least 14,000 people in the US were killed during the 14 weeks following the Fukushima catastrophe — and the majority of these deaths were in children under age one.
Published in the International Journal of Health Services, Mangano’s study looked at both infant and adult death rates during the time when Fukushima occurred, as well as in previous months and years. During the 14 weeks prior to Fukushima, for instance, infant deaths had been declining by 8.37 percent, while in the weeks following the disaster they increased by 1.8 percent. Among adults, a 4.46 percent death rate was observed in the weeks after Fukushima, compared to 2.34 percent, which is about half that rate, a year prior.
“This study of Fukushima health hazards is the first to be published in a scientific journal,” said Mangano. “It raises concerns, and strongly suggests that health studies continue, to understand the true impact of Fukushima in Japan and around the world. Findings are important to the current debate of whether to build new reactors, and how long to keep aging ones in operation.”

.

Let us be extremely grateful that here in Australia, we are further away from the natural movements of airborne radiation particles, than is the US and even Europe. Read the ‘Related Articles’  “Plutonium has circled the Earth..”

Let us learn from these issues, not just what is happening, but also that we cannot rely on the general media for accurate and complete reporting.

Atrocities in Iraq remain after the perpetrators ostensibly leave.

Irak - FallujahThis story has been posted on TIP. (Titled – “Fallujah babies: Under a new kind of siege”).

There is a need to spread it as widely as possible. It is a story that should never have arisen. It has numerous ramifications and lessons to be learned. It should be sufficiently moving  to affect the US, no, the world’s population in a significant way. The Australians who offer support one way or another to the US overseas destruction and human devastation. The UN which supports and aids and abets the continuing warmongering in the Middle East and now Africa, potentially also Iran.

It is a story of evil people carrying out evil deeds. Telling lies in order to con the public into accepting killing and destruction. Dumbing down the public to accept human annihilation, suffering and trauma as necessary collateral damage in the striving for control of energy resources and countries. Controls which will benefit the few and bring ruination to the many. Strangely enough, the losers include the majority of citizens in the US and the other member states of the ‘Coalition of the Warring”.

Perhaps this ‘uruknet.info’ article by Dahr Jamail, titled “Fallujah babies: Under a new kind of siege”, will bring some reality to the reader, especially when you  go to the original and glimpse the photos. I haven’t tried to include the deformed baby photo here, because it makes me feel ill.

Doctors and residents blame US weapons for catastrophic levels of birth defects in Fallujah’s newborns.
January 6, 2012
US invasion leaves lasting Iraq scars

Fallujah, Iraq– While the US military has formally withdrawn from Iraq, doctors and residents of Fallujah are blaming weapons like depleted uranium and white phosphorous used during two devastating US attacks on Fallujah in 2004 for what are being described as “catastrophic” levels of birth defects and abnormalities.

Dr Samira Alani, a paediatric specialist at Fallujah General Hospital, has taken a personal interest in investigating an explosion of congenital abnormalities that have mushroomed in the wake of the US sieges since 2005.

“We have all kinds of defects now, ranging from congenital heart disease to severe physical abnormalities, both in numbers you cannot imagine,” Alani told Al Jazeera at her office in the hospital, while showing countless photos of shocking birth defects.

As of December 21, Alani, who has worked at the hospital since 1997, told Al Jazeera she had personally logged 677 cases of birth defects since October 2009. Just eight days later when Al Jazeera visited the city on December 29, that number had already risen to 699.

“There are not even medical terms to describe some of these conditions because we’ve never seen them until now,” she said. “So when I describe it all I can do is describe the physical defects, but I’m unable to provide a medical term.”

‘Incompatible with life’

Most of these babies in Fallujah die within 20 to 30 minutes after being born, but not all.

CDC, doctors push unproven vaccine ‘cocooning’ scheme hatched from pseudoscientific quackery

Vaccination

Image by Sanofi Pasteur via Flickr

A very tricky, personal situation involves this very subject.

Firstly, some of Mike’s post:

(NaturalNews) The latest vaccine scam being peddled on the public by US health authorities involves vaccinating parents and family members against certain infectious diseases in order to supposedly prevent transmission of these diseases to babies that are too young to get vaccinated themselves. However, the practice, known as “cocooning,” has admittedly never been scientifically proven to work in the first place, and in all honest terms is nothing more than unsubstantiated quackery.
A report recently published in the journal Pediatrics by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) claims that cocooning can help prevent babies from becoming infected with pertussis, also known as whooping cough, as well as influenza. But Dr. Herschel R. Lessin, one of the authors of the report, admitted recently that the concept has never been scientifically tested, and nobody can say for sure that it actually works.
“It’s a relatively new concept,” Dr. Lessin is quoted as saying by Reuters Health. “I don’t know that anyone has looked at whether it works.”
In fact, the only studies that have actually been conducted on cocooning have had to use made-up estimates and calculations rather than actual tests. In other words, scientists just created some numbers and percentages, which they then used to say that cocooning might work. And the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is always quick to endorse any program that promotes vaccines, took the opportunity to immediately endorse cocooning, despite a complete lack of evidence that it even works.
Officials in Canada are not taking the bait, however, as they say the cost of administering vaccines as part of a cocooning program, assuming they even work in the first place, far outweighs any supposed benefits. Even if cocooning might work in some cases, which has never been proven, it would take vaccinating a million people or more just to save one child from death, which would cost millions of dollars.

Many vaccination concepts have absolutely no basis in science, but are used to get as many people vaccinated as possible

It is mind-boggling to think that many vaccine advocates support vaccination concepts like cocooning or “herd immunity” on the false basis that they are rooted in sound science, when they are really nothing more than fairy tale myths. And yet these same folks are quick to malign anyone who questions or opposes such vaccination nonsense, accusing them of ignoring and denying science.
The real goal of the new report, though, is not necessarily to prevent infant deaths, or to even back up the cocooning theory with a semblance of sound science — the purpose is simply to “get everyone immunized,” these being the exact stated words of Dr. Lessin, who admitted openly his opinion that “immunization is the greatest thing in the history of mankind.” So who needs actual science when your personal faith in vaccines is already set in stone?

Read Mike’s Post here.

Many health issues are highlighted by the impressive ‘Natural News‘ website, also of course , by other reputable and informative sites.

One of the aims of this site is to help promote such issues, based on the proven failures in the orthodox medical system involving the pharma companies, the supposed watchdogs, the government, and the  practitioners themselves, doctors, medical centres, hospitals, to put the  health interests of the public ahead of profit-making and/or expenditure cutting.

This very situation exists here in Victoria, Australia, where my daughter and husband were advised to have Whooping Cough vaccinations because their, then 1 month old baby, might die from whooping cough. I think, the baby has also been vaccinated since. Many medical guidelines warn against vaccinations prior to 6 months, this seems to be ignored in the industry.

A dilemma for me! On the one hand I promote caution to the reader public on this blog about issues I firmly believe are justified by the evidence presented. On the other hand, when personal family are concerned, I hesitate to strongly advise them about medical issues contrary to their own doctor’s recommendations.

I strongly feel they are being conned, but is it my responsibility? Yes, but it could work either way? The real-life situation brings these issues home. The baby might become autistic from MMR vaccinations, or be damaged by unnecessary whooping cough vaccinations, OR if not vaccinated, might catch a life-threatening or debilitating disease.

It is perhaps, a hypocritical viewpoint or action. I have mentioned my concerns but hesitate to push for a different action to be taken. Perhaps that is enough?

In the case of readers, I try to define my position. It is not from an authoritative base, just a messenger trying to do good. Readers have to make up their own minds based on all the available information. The real point is whether the information I publish is correct? The source needs to be absolutely authentic and correct. My judgement is based on logic and commonsense, a judgement on the truth of the information.

Who do we believe? The industry which has a proven track record of self-interest and lack of honesty?  (Doesn’t mean they are always wrong). The alternative media, not themselves an authority, or their sources, which usually are an authority, and are probably right in their claims ? (Yet need to be assessed as accurate).

When it comes close to home, it is a soul-searching moment, not to be taken lightly.

2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,200 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

HAPPY NEW (Calendar) YEAR! From ‘The Golden Rule’

Sydney. Fireworks Newyear 2006. Opera House an...

Image via Wikipedia

It being 01.01.2012, I am moved to say something to mark the occasion.

At this stage there is no preconceived theme but something might arise from the depths.

What has gone before?  Firstly, 2011 has come and gone in a virtual flash.

Main highlights have been mainly family related – the birth of our 12th grandchild Ruby, one daughter moving into a new house in the country, another buying an existing country house. This has meant increased time and obligations away from my city base of Melbourne (Australia), giving me much pleasure. Escaping the rush, traffic, noise and the fast disappearing space and greenery is a bonus to my lifestyle.

Certainly, another highlight has been the creation of this website. Initially the actual formation, choosing a visual theme and title, formatting the presentation and watching it all come to ‘life’ in itself was rewarding. Then the opportunity to have a say in a published format. There have been many reader views and responses, which is gratifying. But even just getting stuff ‘off my chest’ works in a therapeutic manner and creates an expansion in my thought processing and life in general.

A large amount of satisfaction arises from the networking with readers and the many other sites of like interests and concerns. This all started with my commenting on the TIP blog which promotes truth and justice not to be found in the mainstream media. Next an invitation to join them as a contributing author, enabling me to gain experience in writing and a strong interest, perhaps even an obsession, to criticise usually obvious wrong-doings and injustices and inhumanitarian proceedings. Together with the satisfaction of promoting some good things in life – health, happiness, freedom, humour, respect, goodwill and truth, blogging , to me, is a rewarding and fulfilling experience.

The satisfaction of doing something almost certainly worthwhile, and the camaraderie, encouragement and support from the other blogs add together to make this a really important part of my life.

Will I actually say something of practical/philosophical value?  Yes, one thing, the celebration of a New Year with copious quantities of fireworks. A current ‘affair’.

On the one hand, absolutely spectacular beauty. A mind-blowing visual and auditory experience, in this case, once a year, bringing significant,  short-term pleasure to millions of people both present and at home on metre-wide HD televisions and multi-watt stereo systems. Worth doing? Of course! Even if momentary, a highly pleasurable experience is a great event in lives that are generally strained by the everyday routines of life – work, traffic, financial issues, health issues, commercials on the media ( I have a hang-up), personal relationships, interest rates, loved ones fighting endless wars, etc etc.

But there is another side to this, as there usually is.

Consider the cost. Besides the tragic loss of a life from a fireworks accident, and the fire damage to the Melbourne Art Centre tower, the  monetary cost of a display such as in Sydney (Australia), multiplied by a large number of other capital cities throughout the world represents a gigantic amount of expenditure.

Now consider the tragedy of the famine-starved millions in under-developed countries, thousands dying a day, unheralded in the MSM, unnoticed in general. The absolute absence of virtually any pleasure. Not short-term experiences of pain and suffering but full-time continuous sickness, pain, and despair until ended by merciful death. Eventually, death becomes their pleasure, a welcome relief.

The question is, would money alone solve this tragic suffering?  No, but money, attitude, willpower, compassion and the incentive to save humanity could.

Instead, we have wars costing millions of dollars more than fireworks, billions in fact. Wars increasing the deaths and suffering. Wars and programs that would appear to be hell-bent on reducing decimating the world population. (BTW, my personal understanding of the word decimating is a serious reduction in numbers, eg, cutting to one-tenth. The dictionary meaning of ‘by one-tenth’ may be original, but it is seriously devoid of meaning and usefulness if it only means 10% reduction).

Of course, attitudes and incentives are not going to change. The warmongers/bankers are in control and a reversal of the current programs is unlikely, however much pressure is brought to bear by the ‘Occupy Wall Street‘ movement.

Why then, does my writing about it make sense, if no change is likely to result for any reason, but certainly not because of me? It makes sense because it selfishly makes me feel better, like “I have done something about it”, well tried, anyway.

It also might have a tiny bit of influence on a reader’s mindset, from “all is well with the world, the media and government are telling us not to worry, nothing I can do anyway”, to, “all is not well with the world, the mainstream media and government leaders are liars, we should be sitting up taking notice”.

That takes care of the past and the present. Now to 2012, the future.

I had better be careful I don’t start something I can’t finish. Too much, too potentially and/or actually serious, the issues are basically as follows. (As I see them).

Global financial crisis – remains and will get worse. Possibly because the forces of the ungodly prefer it that way. Certainly, they will achieve controls in countries world-wide. That leads to political control, not just financial.  The EU controllers are part of this situation. Catastrophic financial disaster threatens.

Global political turmoil – primarily through the actions of the UN and NATO, are taking power away from the patriotic, although sometimes crude, sometimes selfish, dictators and installing their own version of dictatorship. No more sovereign countries. A continuing downhill run for the public good.

‘Climate Change’, the gravy train thunders on, based on unsupportable science, again driven by the UN control agenda. Opposition from rational thinking scientists, bloggers and the occasional politician (Ex-Australian PM John Howard for one, and I wonder if Kevin Rudd was given the boot for not being willing to co-operate with the green/warmist group?),  are making inroads into the public domain with the truth about AGM issues. The future seems positive but  there is a long way to go before the truth is universal. Even then it might be too late, if countries have already lost their sovereignty, as seems to be happening in Australia.

So 2012 may in effect be the real start of the end of civilization as we know it, as predicted in connection with the Mayan calendar. Not because of natural physical factors but maybe because of mankind’s seemingly inherent trait of self-destruction.  Mind you, I am not making a prediction as such. Just suggesting that the possibility is real and there is evidence to support such an outcome.

Is it possible to say “Happy New Year” in the same breath? There is always hope. (However, as E.M. says, “hope is not a strategy”). Maybe all this warring will produce a happy outcome, but whether for the good of the people or for the good of a few, is yet to be seen.

So, in good faith, I say “HAPPY NEW YEAR” because that is what I wish for, for the majority of the world’s people. It obviously will not be happy for everyone.  But, as a wish, hopefully for many more people that are in fact likely to see it as ‘happy’.

PEACE and GOODWILL!  A dream as Martin Luther KIng Jnr. once espoused.

Unified Theory of Climate

A reference to WUWT post of the same title!
The main thrust is that there are alternative scientific theories which challenge the IPCC claimed science.

This particular one, presented by “Ned Nikolov, Ph.D. & Karl Zeller, Ph.D. USFS Rocky Mountain Research Station, Fort Collins CO, USA” must be worthy of consideration.

“Abstract

We present results from a new critical review of the atmospheric Greenhouse (GH) concept. Three main problems are identified with the current GH theory. It is demonstrated that thermodynamic principles based on the Gas Law need be invoked to fully explain the Natural Greenhouse Effect. We show via a novel analysis of planetary climates in the solar system that the physical nature of the so-called GH effect is a Pressure-induced Thermal Enhancement (PTE), which is independent of the atmospheric chemical composition. This finding leads to a new and very different paradigm of climate controls. Results from our research are combined with those from other studies to propose a new Unified Theory of Climate, which explains a number of phenomena that the current theory fails to explain. Implications of the new paradigm for predicting future climate trends are briefly discussed.

1. Introduction

Recent studies revealed that Global Climate Models (GCMs) have significantly overestimated the Planet’s warming since 1979 failing to predict the observed halt of global temperature rise over the past 13 years. (e.g. McKitrick et al. 2010). No consensus currently exists as to why the warming trend ceased in 1998 despite a continued increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration. Moreover, the CO2-temperature relationship shows large inconsistencies across time scales. In addition, GCM projections heavily depend on positive feedbacks, while satellite observations indicate that the climate system is likely governed by strong negative feedbacks (Lindzen & Choi 2009; Spencer & Braswell 2010). At the same time, there is a mounting political pressure for Cap-and-Trade legislation and a global carbon tax, while scientists and entrepreneurs propose geo-engineering solutions to cool the Planet that involve large-scale physical manipulation of the upper atmosphere. This unsettling situation calls for a thorough reexamination of the present climate-change paradigm; hence the reason for this study.

WUWT post can be read here.

It is quite scientific. The climate system is so very complex that attempts to analyse it scientifically can be no less than complex. This, I think, is the main issue. IMHO, the variables are really variables, numerous, mostly not unknowns but, in the global picture, impossible to quantify with any significant degree of accuracy.

Still no harm done in trying. This attempt has some hint of validity, seemingly much greater than the IPCC models, and it does cover some obvious deficiencies in the IPCC “science”.

AGW – A Curiousity In Australia

Map of annual average temperatures as a functi...

Image via Wikipedia

Many blogs are covering AGW anomalies. I don’t mean global temperature anomalies, I refer to anomolies between facts and the IPCC/AGW industry data, and /or claims.

This ‘Chiefio’ post caught my attention because it referred to Australia, maybe it warrants further exposure.

So there was / is a cold summer in Australia (especially up around Brisbane).

When you look at a map of Australia, Brisbane is just about in the middle of the country on the coast on the right (east) side.

What’s a bit curious, is that while the locals are saying it is Way Cold, GIStemp is just not seeing it. In fact, even looking back into the PAST cold, it isn’t there. It is as though the extremes are simply erased. (I’ve suspected this from what we’ve seen in the “QA Process” where stations must be ‘close enough’ to nearby airports or their data are rejected).

What brought this on? Bikinis.

No, honest! With a h/t to George on the Open Talk page where he noted:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/australiaandthepacific/australia/8965155/Cold-Australian-summer-sees-swimwear-profits-plummet.html

Coldest summer in Australia in 50 years.

Well, I thought, how can I not follow up on a Bikini story… if retail sales are falling in swimwear, there are ways to make money off of shorting specialty retailers of swimwear and going long things like Burlington Coat Factory. Yes, short bikinis, long coats…

Perhaps even “short shorts” and “long long johns”…

So a bit of searching turned up this page claiming that Brisbane had a cold winter too:

http://www.bobinoz.com/blog/7503/brisbanes-coldest-day/

Today in Brisbane temperatures have barely got above 12° C. The highest temperature I’ve seen on my outdoor thermometer is
12.4° C.

It’s the coldest daytime maximum temperature I’ve ever known here and I remember reading that the previous lowest maximum daytime temperature in recent years was around 15° C.

So I decided to check the records.

The previous and all time recorded lowest daytime temperature in Brisbane was 11.7°C in 1916. So today is the coldest day for 95 years!

They quote another article and link to it:

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Chris Joseph said the record low daytime temperature for Brisbane was 11.7 degrees, set in 1916.”

http://www.hillsnews.com.au/news/national/national/general/the-gloves-are-on-as-cold-snap-continues/2190380.aspx

The gloves are on, as cold snap continues
DAN NANCARROW
09 Jun, 2011 11:51 AM

Queensland’s cold snap has continued, with Brisbane recording its coolest overnight temperature of the year while the mercury plummeted below zero further west.

The mercury dropped to 6.9 degrees at 6am in the capital, five below average and the coldest it has been since August 14 last year, when the temperature fell to 6 degrees.

Amberley was near-freezing at 1.8 degrees at 6am, while the temperature at Brisbane Airport fell to 5.7 degrees.

Charleville and Roma shared the title of being the state’s coldest, with the mercury falling to minus 3 degrees, while Dalby reached minus 2.1, Oakey minus 1, Toowoomba zero degrees and Kingaroy 0.6 degrees.

The cold front moving across southeast Queensland from the Victorian snow fields will make for more frosty conditions today with a maximum temperature of 16 degrees, 6 degrees below average.

But that is still almost four degrees above yesterday’s maximum temperature of 12.6 degrees.

So, I’m thinking, if we’ve had Way Cold in mid winter, and the summer is so cold folks are avoiding the beach and not buying a lot of swimwear, that ought to show up in the temperature charts, right?

We’re Off To See the Wizzard,…

So what does that man behind the curtain say when we ask GIStemp for a map of Australia with temperatures? Well, strange things happen.

Toward the end of looking at things, I decided to just home in on June 1916 relative to the hot period of 1980 to 2010. That was, per the Warmistas, the Hottest Ever and represents most of the ‘ramp up’. So if 1916 was a record cold, how does it stack up against the warmest? I expected to see a very cold Brisbane area. I set the ‘smearing’ to “only” 250 km so we could see where stations were recording just a bit better.

So look at Australia. A “hot pixel” in the dead center and then generally warm all over. Brisbane at the coast, roughly ‘normal’. For a coldest ever? What? Something is just very wrong… And it is not just the complete lack of temperatures at either pole or in the interior of Africa, South America, and large swaths of China and Russia. There are “hot pixels” in Japan, Greenland, Kashmir, and a warm Texas too (among others). There are also ‘way cold’ areas in odd places too. A bit of history check says 1916-17 was significantly cold in parts of Europe (some folks speculate W.W.I caused it). But what’s the deal with Australia?

Looking at June 2011 vs the same recent hot baseline (so it ought to be ‘way cold’ if it’s a ‘coldest in 50 years’ or more) we get:

Brisbane is marked as a ‘neutral’ white to light green. Nothing significantly different from that hot period. Nope, no cold there…

How odd..

I do note a lot of bright red in areas that are lacking many people and data points… Cutting it back to a 250 km ‘smear’ we see that a limited number of ‘hot pixels’ are getting smeared way too far and much of the map shows cold pixels.

At last we can see a bit of cool showing up in Brisbane…

So if we look at the maps with the default settings, what do we see?

Did Brisbane really have a normal winter? Or was it exceptionally cold? Was Europe really a couple of degrees warm this summer? Did England have a nice slightly warm summer? Plenty of tomatoes, eggplant, and Green beans from the garden?

The November cold summer down under? Winter up north?

Is Brisbane REALLY way above normal this summer, selling swimsuits like crazy to the vacationers trying to get a spot on the beach?

Is the UK and Scandinavia REALLY having a sweltering winter?

Last I looked, the Arctic was making basically normal sea ice in rather colder than usual temperatures. It is REALLY +5 C to +6 C HOT HOT HOT!!!

I know, we’ve seen this game many times before, but doesn’t there come a time when someone just stands up and says this is too embarrassing to NASA and they need to toss the crap out?

Look at the north pole! Darned near blood red on fire. Yet we’re having massive polar cold causing blizzards and early snows. This is just broken.

I know, I ought to go into the code and figure out where. I’ve ‘been there’ and don’t look forward to going back. IMHO it is the result of a very distributed approach. EVERYTHING is ‘snugged up’ just a little, resulting in a very large bias. (I think the graphing parts even add their bit. As we saw before they blocked it (but didn’t FIX it) zero values are mapped to blood red. I suspect that the sporadic null station adds an excess cold value, giving excess cold on missing data items, but that code was not in the last download I did – and I don’t know if is even provided now.)

So here we are, with reality telling us that all over the world we are having cold anomaly events. With rising heating bills and blizzard warnings. With swimwear sales off (and I expect coat sales up, along with road salt…) What does GIStemp say? Oh Hot Hot HOT!!!

How long can such {pick one: stupidity, fraud, buggy code, idiocy, embarrassment} continue with no Adult Supervision?

With apologies for copying the whole post, thanks Chiefio, for some excellent assessment.

With the usual proviso that picking certain aspects as ‘proofs’ is not scientific, there are enough discrepancies in the AGW claims to make a very good case of scientific fraud, certainly enough for me to be convinced that the AGW science is being over-ridden by agenda.
