Free energy breakthrough? Holy grail of water splitting technology now achieved with sunlight, mirrors and seawater

Free Energy is high up on my list of interests and global energy resource.

The processing and eventual production of electrical energy is, of course, not free of costs, but it is certainly free of pollution and is 100% sustainable. Even though the author of this ‘Natural News‘ article suggests using the hydrogen for a more productive fusion process, there would be no necessity to go there, if we accept pollution free burning and steam turbine generators as adequate. Going ‘there’ involves incredible heat processes and, not sure about this but, ionising radiation?.

From Mike Adams, discussion on some hope for a cleaner future:

(NaturalNews) A team of scientists at the University of Colorado, Boulder, have achieved what appears to be the “holy grail” of water splitting technology for the production and storage of clean, abundant energy. Because sunlight is free, I’m calling this “free energy.”

To understand this breakthrough, it’s important to first understand why solar power has so many limitations. Solar is great when the sun is shining, but storing solar power require the deployment of a large array of heavy, expensive and toxic electrical storage devices known as “deep cycle batteries.” To put it in street terms, deep cycle battery technology sucks. The batteries suck, the chemicals suck, the weight sucks and the cost sucks. There is absolutely nothing to like about batteries unless you enjoy hulking around with heavy, useless objects.

So the “holy grail” of solar power has always been finding a way to store solar energy that’s portable, dense and relatively lightweight. Until now, that discovery has been elusive.

But now a team of scientists in Boulder, Colorado say they have come up with “a radically new technique that uses the power of sunlight to efficiently split water into its components of hydrogen and oxygen, paving the way for the broad use of hydrogen as a clean, green fuel.”

Sunlight, mirrors and a reaction chamber

The system works by exploiting a large array of ground mirrors to focus sunlight onto a tall reaction tower. There, the intense heat (2,500 degrees Fahrenheit) powers a reaction chamber containing metal oxides. The heat drives oxygen atoms off the metal oxides, causing them to “soak up” the oxygen from steam vapor introduced into the chamber. Steam vapor is, of course, made of water (H2O), so stealing the oxygen atoms from water leaves hydrogen gas that can then be collected.

In effect, the tower uses sunlight to split water into hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. The hydrogen gas is then collected, purified and pumped into high-pressure hydrogen containers which, pound for pound, are extremely dense “batteries” of energy that far out-perform chemical batteries.

Better yet, hydrogen gas then holds all this energy with 100% efficiency, losing no potential whatsoever, even if stored for decades. From an environmental perspective, hydrogen is also a super clean-burning fuel, producing no carbon dioxide emissions or particulate matter. (The reason hydrogen does not produce CO2 when combusted is because it does not contain carbon, obviously. CO2 production requires a carbon-based source of fuel such as hydrocarbons — coal, gasoline, diesel, etc.)

Smart Meters – Welcome to a brave new world WITHOUT privacy

Another factor to be taken into the assessment.

Stop Smart Meters Australia

The articles linked to this post clearly demonstrate what kind of details are available to the power companies using smart meters to monitor our power usage. Power usage

It also covers some of the concerns that the public has with respect to how this data can be used such as providing a profile of a monitored household to determine whether a house is occupied or not. Refer to article here: privacy-on-the-smart-grid

There are some good suggestions on how household details can be obfuscated but it remains to seen whether any of them will be implemented by Power companies.

What should be a bigger concern to the public is that the smart meter combined with smart appliances creates the potential framework to support further monitoring measures in the future that may not be limited to simply turning on/off appliances remotely.

A “brave new world” in deed where it…

Getting Real with Reality

This post reaches deep into our processes of thought, conception and self-awareness just as it reaches deep into what might actually be reality, what the author calls true reality, because an individual’s concepts are simply that, and true reality is actually beyond our comprehension.

Aspects of Reality

Aspects of Reality (Photo credit: woodsman_dave)

Our reality is what we experience and sense in all areas of our perception. The same goes for every individual. Even with the enormous wealth of information available to us, we are simply unable to comprehend what true reality might be.

That is why I consider this post worth publishing. Not to put down our capabilities of perception, suggested as being limited, but to give us a better understanding that what we perceive as reality should not be taken for granted as true reality.

By David G. Arenson, ND. Find Shambhala

Is there such a thing as a true reality – perhaps the whole world is a dream or a dance of consciousness dreaming itself alive.

What is reality?

Merely conditioning, based on beliefs? Or something more?

The real reality is within. What you see is an illusion, and only reflects what your brain is capable of showing you via its own mechanisms. Technically and physiologically speaking, you’re unable to see the truth that you live in an illusion that can equally imprison or free you.

Stop reality.

A human being is a part of a whole—called by us ‘universe’—a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest… a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” ~ Einstein

Are we real? Are we even capable of seeing what is real?

We read the world wrong and say that it deceives us.” ~ Rabindranath Tagore

All we can do is be open to what is true, and grip on to what we can feel with our senses, and I include all six senses in this. The era of gurus is over. Consciousness is shifting on the planet and as human beings, we are evolving to a higher level. In fact, we have no choice to evolve or to die out. Such is the nature of life.

Nature’s way is simple and easy but men prefer what is intricate and artificial.” ~ Lao Tzu-

See all of this fascinating article at the source post on ‘The Healer’s Journal”,  here.

Obviously this is the author’s conception, but it seems reasonable to open our minds to pondering this deeper understanding of reality.

On the other hand, our reality, our existence and our environment, is the only reality that we have personally got, so to speak. And that is the only reality that we are likely to understand.

Al Gore’s “Reality Minions” think the North Pole is melting – except that’s NOT a photo of the North Pole

For those persons who are basing their AGW/CO2dangers/carbon tax+ beliefs on “evidence” such as that the North pole melt is due to man-made causes, please read this.

It has “melted” in the recent past several times – 1959, 1962, 1987. All before the ‘dreaded’ global warming hoax took hold.

Not only that, but the photographic evidence of this year’s melt is incorrect.

Time to have a deeper think about your beliefs, perhaps?

Heart Disease And The Cholesterol Myth

More support for alternative medical theories and practice.
Another advocate for wariness regarding elevated cholesterol levels requiring statins or any other treatment.
Another article providing support for the importance of mainstream practitioners to access all relevant information and carefully filter the misinformation.

Ironically cholesterol drugs actually increase risk of heart attacks. Researchers in Hull, UK followed 114 heart failure patients who began taking cholesterol lowering drugs.(6)

“They found that for every point of decrease in serum cholesterol, there was a 36% increase in the risk of death within three years.”(7)

AGW – “What Is Cook’s Consensus?”

Much weight has been, and still is being applied, to the “97% consensus” claim, in order to support the “validity” of ‘humans are causing global warming’. This claim is in fact not valid, this post explains why.
An extract:

” I didn’t intend to follow up on this comment, but this morning I saw a quote from Dana Nuccitelli that was impossible to resist:

“We were always careful to say that while the survey involved 12,000 abstracts, the 97 percent consensus was among the ~4,000 abstracts that took a position on the cause of global warming (plus the roughly 1,400 of 2,100 self-rated papers taking a position). And we were careful to point out that the consensus was that ‘humans are causing global warming.

Nuccitelli says he and his co-authors always used a particular phrasing when describing their results. I must admit, that is true. They’ve always managed to say “humans cause global warming” with the implicit qualifier of “some” (that they knew nobody would pay attention to). It’s obvious they knew the limitations of their results and didn’t want to be accused of lying.”

The Birth of a Police State: UK Police to be Granted Sweeping New Powers

This is no run-of-the-mill legislation and intention.
The title says it all.
A clear warning that individuals freedom is seriously under attack.
Proof that all is not well with the world, that democracy is a word only. Maybe a state of mind, but not a state of existence.

Australian Politics – Humour and Wit. (The COW AND THE ICE CREAM )

I think this is worth posting – many a true word spoken in jest!

[Everyone loves ice-cream].

A persuasive example of how an election is won.

 But first ponder this  :

Ever notice how all the instruments that search for “intelligent life” point away from Earth?

The COW AND THE ICE CREAM
ONE OF THE BEST THEORIES OF WHY KEVIN MIGHT POSSIBLY STILL WIN THE NEXT ELECTION

–>From a teacher in the south-west – –

“We are worried about ‘the cow’ when it is all about the ‘Ice Cream.

‘The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching year 3 students.

The last Parliamentary election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class captain. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.

I had never seen Olivia’s parents.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.

Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place.
He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia’s turn to speak.

Her speech was concise. She said, “If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.” She sat down.

The class went wild. “Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.”

She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn’t sure. But no one pursued that question. They took her at her word.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it…She didn’t know.

The class really didn’t care. All they were thinking about was ice cream…

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Kevin and later Julia opened their mouth they offered ice cream and many Australian voters reacted like nine year old’s.

They wanted ice cream.

The rest of the voters knew they were going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.”

This is the ice cream Kevin and Julia promised us!

cowicecream

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone that they have not first taken away from someone else.
How many of us voted for the ice cream?

That my friend, is how Labor got elected last time!

By those who wanted everything free.

Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again

The IPCC has a real pack of trouble on its hands

Some people and organizations are starting to use their “little grey cells”!

An extract: “On a final note, the problem of large government climate change assessments being scientifically outdated even before they are released is not atypical of “group science,” which is hugely expensive, grossly inefficient, and often is designed to justify policy. We noted the same thing in our comments on the recent draft report of the U.S. effort at assessing climate change impacts, the “National Climate Assessment” (NCA), stating:
To the extent that the recent literature ultimately produces a more accurate estimate of the equilibrium climate sensitivity than does the climate model average, it means that, in general, all of the projections of future climate change given in the NCA are, by default, some 40% too large (too rapid) and the associated (and described) impacts are gross overestimates.

Our recommendation is that an alternative set of projections be developed for all topics discussed in the NCA, incorporating the latest scientific findings on the lowered value of equilibrium climate sensitivity. Without the addition of the new projections, the NCA will be obsolete on the day of its official release.

And to think, these national and international assessments are undertaken to justify policy actions.
Scary thought.

Fed Economist Fired for Investigating Suspicious 9-11 Cash Transfers; and Steve Keen Exposes Financial Fallacies

What can one say? Am I stupid for believing this to be conclusive proof of insider knowledge and therefore insider involvement in at least not attempting to prevent the disaster?
Or are the people who stick to their beliefs that a few Islamic militant amateurs planned and executed the attacks without insider collusion, stupid? Well, what do you think?
