What an upside down world we live in. The message for years has been that a low-fat diet is good for the prevention of heart disease, come to find out, that was wrong advice. It was advice that benefits the drug companies bottom line $$$$.

We physicians with all our training, knowledge and authority often acquire a rather large ego that tends to make it difficult to admit we are wrong. So, here it is. I freely admit to being wrong.. As a heart surgeon with 25 years experience, having performed over 5,000 open-heart surgeries,today is my day to right the wrong with medical and scientific fact.

  1. What a pleasant surprise Crystal! Thank you sincerely for this post.
    The “fat/cholesterol/heart” relationship topic has been on my agenda for some time but has not received due attention. It is even more timely because I am right in the process of being checked out by my doctor for chest pains. Tests so far have cleared me of a serious issue, so I am looking forward to a result other than surgery and/or short-term mortality.
