“China calls for peace in Syria and backs referendum”

Syria

Now here’s a how-de-do! With apologies to G&S and yes, I know that was a Japanese story.

I refer to ‘The Telegraph’ article titled as above.

Chinese envoy, Zhai Jun has called on all sides in Syria to end violence   following talks with President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.

Mr Zai also said he backed the Syrian government’s plan for a referendum on the constitution and future   elections, something the opposition says cannot happen amid continued   violence.

“We hope that the referendum on a new constitution as well as the   forthcoming parliamentary elections pass off calmly,” Mr Zai said.

“The position of China is to call on the government, the opposition and   the rebels to halt acts of violence immediately,” he added.

The Chinese envoy said he hoped to see calm restored as soon as possible.

But one key opposition group, the National Coordination Committee for   Democratic Change has threatened to boycot the 26 February referendum until   the violence and killings had stopped.

This is surely a significant  move by the Chinese to get themselves involved in this way.

Good for them! Perhaps, the Western troublemakers will think twice about their interference in Syria now that China has followed up their UN Security Council vetos in support of Syria, and justice, by the way, with this publicly announced Syrian support.

The madness has to stop and this is a good move.

Read the article here.

As an adjunct: This is an article by ‘TimeWorld’ “U.N.: Crimes Against Humanity in Syria? They are suggesting that the Syrian government has committed war crimes when it is clear to many, including Russia and China, that the war crimes are attributable to the UN and its associates. Worse than hypocracy, it is criminal behaviour in all respects!

Sott.net needs YOU!

Bernard d'Agesci (1757-1828), La justice, musé...

Image via Wikipedia

‘The Golden Rule’ is a miniscule blog. It has a relatively small following. Yet, it is growing steadily. I would like to believe that the readers are sensible, intelligent persons who have a mutual desire for justice in the world and an abhorrence of unprovoked violence.

For this I am grateful.

A great deal of information and even complete posts have been derived or copied from Sott.net. They are obviously being hounded by the authorities, for the fairly obvious reasons of telling the truth, embarrassing the ungodly and supporting whistleblowers.

I do not have the resources for contributing financial assistance but thought that a post supporting them was warranted. Several readers have their own blogs and may consider widening this network appeal in the same way.

This is their post detailing their plight. Perhaps your support would be considered and would surely be appreciated.

Washington DC: FBI Foils Own Terror Plot (Again)

Federal Bureau of Investigation Seal

Federal Bureau of Investigation Seal (Photo credit: DonkeyHotey)

I suggest that this story speaks for itself. No further comment necessary! I retract that. Think about the FBI belonging to the Dept of Justice!

Reference Sott.net post by Tony Cartalucci, Land Destroyer.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has once again proven that the only thing Americans need fear, is their own government, with the latest “terror attack” foiled being one entirely of their own design.
USA Today reports that a suspect had been arrested by the FBI who was “en route to the U.S. Capitol allegedly to detonate a suicide bomb.” While initial reports portrayed the incident as a narrowly averted terrorist attack, CBS would report that a “high ranking source told CBS News the man was “never a real threat.”” The explosives the would-be bomber carried were provided to him by the FBI during what they described as a “lengthy and extensive operation.” The only contact the suspect had with “Al Qaeda” was with FBI officials posing as associates of the elusive, omnipresent, bearded terror conglomerate. The FBI, much like their MI5 counterparts in England, have a propensity for recruiting likely candidates from mosques they covertly run.
This is but the latest in a string of national terror plots carried out from start to finish by the FBI, who has made a business of approaching likely candidates and grooming them to carry out terror attacks. In September 2011, another FBI terror operation targeting the Capitol was “foiled,” involving a patsy who believed he was to take part in an assault that would involve multiple gunmen and even a drone bomber provided to him by the FBI.

Read on here.

If, in the process of manufacturing false terrorist attacks they actually caught a real terrorist, perhaps they could claim that they had achieved something worhwhile. But have they ever actually caught a real terrorist?

A Cruel World, well not the World actually, But Some People!

The "Baker" explosion, part of Opera...

Image via Wikipedia

I just came across this COTO post by accident, not looking for anything in particular. It cries out for exposure. Bold emphasis in the following extract is mine.

Happy Savages, By Robert C. Koehler

“Thirty seconds to zero . . . six, five, four, three, two, one.”

Suddenly a big orange blossom fills the screen, accompanied by ukuleles and lovely — I mean Strangelovian — Polynesian music. The blossom is actually Castle Bravo, a 15-megaton hydrogen bomb blast, the largest U.S. test ever, detonated over Bikini Atoll on March 1, 1954.

This is a few minutes into Nuclear Savage: The Island Experiments of Secret Project 4.1, one of the most disturbing documentaries I’ve ever seen, and one of seven feature-length films that are part of Chicago’s fourth annual Peace on Earth Film Festival, Feb. 23-26, at the Chicago Cultural Center. The event, once again, is free of charge.

Peace on earth?

The film festival seeks to “enlighten and to empower individuals, families and communities to step out of the ignorance of conflict . . .”

I take a deep breath and think about Nuclear Savage, a film by former Greenpeace activist Adam Jonas Horowitz, which opens up one of the hidden horrors of American history — analogous to our history of slavery, lynching and Jim Crow — but perpetrated on the far side of the world, with nuclear weapons.

Nuclear Savage is the story of what we did to the Marshall Islanders throughout the Cold War with our nuclear testing program. Not only did we expose many thousands of them to ghastly — often lethal — levels of radiation with 67 nuclear blasts, with glaring evidence that at least some of the exposure was intentional, done for the purpose of studying the effects of radiation on human guinea pigs; not only did we wreck the Marshall Islanders’ way of life and pristine paradise, creating a nation of internal refugees confined to a Western-style slum on the island of Ebeye; not only did we cower, as a nation, from any real responsibility for what our fallout did to these people, settling our genocidal debt to them with $150 million “for all claims, past, present and future”; but also, throughout our dealing with them as nuclear conquistadors, we displayed a racism so profound, so cold-blooded, its exposure must forever shatter the myth of American exceptionalism.

And we’re still doing it. The tiny, impoverished Republic of the Marshall Islands recently signed a 75-year lease agreement with the United States, guaranteeing that the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site on Kwajalien Atoll, where Star Wars testing is still being conducted (for unfathomable billions of dollars), will be operational at least through 2086.

Continues here.

Perhaps ‘cruel’ is too soft a word, maybe ‘evil’ suits better.

Humour – (?) The Mystery of the Cemetery Music

Before you read this, please understand that I am a lover of this gentleman’s music.

I also respect the departed, of whom many are my relations and friends.

This attempt at humour may be misconstrued as in bad taste, or of similar negative shortcomings.

Nevertheless, I find this exceptionally clever and funny, which may or may not brand me in some negative manner, but I will take the chance.

A tourist in Vienna is going through a graveyard and all of a sudden he hears music.

No one is around, so he starts searching for the source.

He finally locates the origin and finds it is coming from a grave with a headstone that reads “Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827″.

Then he realizes that the music is the Ninth Symphony and it is being played backward!
Puzzled, he leaves the graveyard and persuades a friend to return with him.

By the time they arrive back at the grave, the music has changed.

This time it is the Seventh Symphony, but like the previous piece, it is being played backward.
Curious, the men agree to consult a music scholar.

When they return with the expert, the Fifth Symphony is playing, again backward.
The expert notices that the symphonies are being played in the reverse order in which they were composed, 9th, then the 7th, then the 5th.
By the next day the word has spread and a crowd has gathered around the grave.

They are all listening to the Second Symphony being played backward. Just then the graveyard’s caretaker ambles up to the group.
Someone in the group asks him if he has an explanation for the music.
“I would have thought it was obvious” the caretaker says.

Please scroll down

“He’s decomposing.”

AGW – Reliance on various data to assess Global Temperature

Younger Dryas temperature variation

Image via Wikipedia

Very recently I expressed a “wish” for a credible, impartial scientist to publish a paper purely on the methods and accuracies of assessing the so-called “Average Global Temperature”.

I expect to be waiting some time. However, two recent posts deal with this subject. We cannot be sure of the ‘credible’ or the ‘impartial’ factors, but what we learn, in my assessment, is that we are very far from a meaningful outcome.

The reader needs only to look at the posts and the comments to see that no one is happy with the published claims.

The first post, on anomalies, is educational and looking good. Then it cops a barrage of criticism, mainly its lack of error margins. I suspect these criticisms are not sufficient to make the claims invalid, but it shows that no-one can publish a paper without some-one disagreeing with it.

Makes the whole scene almost ridiculous. Which is what I see as the whole situation of  catastrophic claims based on such assessments.

Judge for yourself, from these WUWT posts:

How reliable are global temperature “anomalies” ?

Berkeley Earth releases new version of the BEST dataset

And if you want to learn a lot more about the suspect validity of AGT assessment, spend some time perusing the site Chiefio: Techno bits and mind pleasers. Follow his AGW posts.   Of course, also Anthony Watts own site http://wattsupwiththat.com/.

“the big-freeze” – Difficult to see this caused by Global Warming

JoNova’s post “the big-freeze: thousands trapped in europe as death toll rises to 600”, is an excellent article to provoke serious thought about the validity of the AGW “science”.

Remember we were told by the IPCC that the average global temperature would rise in step with atmospheric CO2 and create life-threatening earth changes.

Well, the CO2 levels continue to rise steadily, we have some increased temperature trends and we have some decreasing trends. We have extreme cold as related here. What we do not have is the “promised” destructive relationship. We certainly do not have anything remotely resembling a hockey stick relationship.

They can make-up whatever reasons they want, call global warming “climate-change” because there is no warming, make fake documents to try to destroy authentic organizations, continue to deceive themselves in so many ways, including denying the obvious email proofs of unsupportable science – but they are not going to fool all the people all the time, nor all the people some of the time.

They will need to be content to fool some of the people some of the time and perhaps some of the people all the time but that is not enough to sustain their credibility. The truth will eventually over-ride the vested interests and even the media who will gradually become aware that they are being used and who will look like fools if they don’t wake up to scientific reality.

Back to Jo’s post:

And who wants Global Warming when you can face avalanches, deep snow, and record cold?

How much fun can you have with 2 meters of snow on your house, and none of that evil coal powered electricity?

What’s happening in Europe and Russia over the last two weeks is not just your average cold-snap. Temperatures reached -28C in Moscow. One point in Russia hit -52.8C (-68F) on Monday.

MOSCOW — Some 215 Russians have died this year in a prolonged period of abnormally cold winter weather, the health ministry said Monday as the overall death toll for Europe rose to well over 600. [National Post]
NASA Earth Observatory. Dark blue areas are -15C below average. White areas are average. Deep Red are 15C above. (See the NASA link below for the proper scale):.

The Danube has frozen over from Austria to the Black Sea, and 224 ships (some delivering fuel) have been stuck in their ports. Schools in Bosnia have been closed for days. Trains in Montenegroare at a standstill, and one train with 50 passengers was stranded in a tunnel for three days before rescuers began evacuating people yesterday.

In Serbia 11,000 villagers are trapped by huge snowfalls as temperatures hit – 26C in one town  (Al jazeera puts the figure at 70,000 people), and some Bosnian villages haven’t had electricity for days.

Hundreds of barns are collapsing under the snow, killing the animals below, and prompting Tom Nelson to write “Children won’t know what barns look like”.

For the first time in over 30 years, snow has fallen in the Sahara Desert.

Alan Caruba found a Turkish writer lamenting the waste and misdirection of millions of dollars spent on the Green global warming bureaucracy instead of preparations to save lives.

Please read the whole post here.

I would love to see a credible scientist, one who is really unbiassed, present a scientific paper on “the assessment of ‘average global temperature'”.  At the moment, each ‘side’ presents their figures supporting their arguments and there is sufficient conflict to suggest that the degree of certainty is less than scientifically verifiable.

Using a large number of geographical locations, many of them questioned for their siting errors or bias, subject to “cherry picking”, varying in numbers for some reason, to assess near surface land temperatures is questionable.

Sea surface measurements involve the same questions.

Atmospheric temperatures at altitude or satellite measurements of surface temps all have useful parameters.

I have repeatedly said that when actual temperatures vary daily, or nightly, or at different sea depths, between equatorial and polar regions, seasonally, by amounts exceeding the anamoly measurements by factors of at least 500 times, (-50degC to +50degC, ie 100DegC variations, looking for a trend or meaningful change of 0.2degC per year), the scientists are operating in the realm of fantasy.

I wonder how many would agree with this if they were not dependent on this science for a living?

They cannot even agree on what is a real measure of  GT,  probably because there is no such meaningful figure!

Earth’s heat content and that of the oceans (probably the most relevant), are meaningful; sea surface temp.; land near-surface temp (the least useful IMHO); atmospheric temps (but at which altitude?),  all contribute data.

Numerous variables, large and small, measurable and immeasurable. And we are  subjected to tyranny on this basis. No thank you!

“the lengths to which pharmaceutical industries are willing to go”

English: Logo of the .

Image via Wikipedia

The ‘VaccineXchange’ post “The Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Controversy” highlights the behind-the-scenes, certainly behind the public view and media coverage,  FDA (US) and Big Pharma activities which contradict their undoubtedly expected responsibilities to the public welfare.

Last week’s news about the harassment of FDA scientists and doctors who informed Congress that the FDA was approving risky medical devices showed the lengths to which pharmaceutical industries are willing to go to protect their interests. Even the U.S. Food and Drug Administration – an organization tasked with the protection of American consumers – is not immune to the industry’s influence (unsurprising, with the ever-present revolving door between the FDA and the industry itself, which has in the past provided lucrative positions to government executives in exchange for beneficial policy decisions).

However, the harassment of whistleblowers is only the very tip of the iceberg. The pharmaceutical industry is willing to go much further to ensure that scientists and researchers who stumble too close to unpleasant truths never get a chance to continue their investigations. The recent case of Dr. Judy Mikovits, a researcher at the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease, is a case in point.

A former scientist at the National Cancer Institute, Dr. Mikovits had the bad luck to discover that a mouse retrovirus seemed to be present in many people who suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome. It was therefore possible that the retrovirus was in fact the cause of the condition, which until then had baffled the scientific community.

What followed was eerily similar to what happened to another researcher who made unpopular claims – Dr. Andrew Wakefield, who proposed a potential link between the MMR vaccine and autism. Further studies failed to confirm it – which, one would think, would end the story right there. The original paper and another study that appeared to support it were retracted – oddly, within days of each other. Dr. Mikovits left the Whittemore Peterson Institute, which proceeded to accuse her of theft and have her arrested and jailed for several days. Ironically, the Institute itself was later accused of embezzlement.

Either Dr. Mikovits is an immoral opportunist who jumped at the chance to make her name at the cost of innocent lives, or she is a victim of Pharma bullying. However, if she did indeed fabricate the results of the study, why did another study appear to confirm her results? Further, why would a respected scientist, who formerly worked at the prestigious National Cancer Institute, fabricate a study? And how would she manage to doctor the results without the knowledge of her collaborators, who belonged to equally well-known organizations such as the Cleveland Clinic?

Dr. Mikovits’ reaction to the whole controversy also does not fit the character of a person who fabricated evidence. Currently, she is supervising lab work in a government-sponsored study lead by leading Columbia University virologist, Dr. Ian Lipkin. The study examines the possible link between chronic fatigue syndrome and mouse retroviruses, and Dr. Mikovitz still hopes to replicate her original results.

Could the controversy, and the dramatic attempts to discredit Dr. Mikovits and her research, stem from the fact that her research could threaten industry profits? After all, Dr. Mikovits’ work centered on mouse retroviruses, and mice are the most common animals used in vaccine and drug development. We already know that foreign DNA fragments do end up in the vaccines themselves – and Dr. Hanan Polansky, from the Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease, has suggested that these DNA fragments “cause major diseases, such as, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and even obesity even when the DNA is broken and not functioning.” Dr. Mikovits may have been on the verge of uncovering something that would have demanded a sea change in the way vaccines – and other drugs – are created and tested, and this would have meant a major blow to pharmaceutical industry profits.

It is hard to tell what the truth is in this whole debate. However, I feel that if it is worth questioning Dr. Mikovits’ integrity, it is at least as worthwhile to place the microscope on the pharmaceutical industry.

“False Flags” are a reality, they are used to start Wars!

From  2012 Indy Info – LRC , “Navy Seals Say False Flag to be Blamed on Iran May Happen at Anytime: Ed Asner

The post contains videos with the details of these claims, but here is an extract:

Asner said it is up to the American people to recognize and prevent an imminent false flag operation and stop another disastrous war before it gets started. He said the Navy Seals are now coming forward because they are worried that an Iran false flag attack “runs the danger” of creating a “world-wide conflict if it gets out of hand.”

False flag attacks designed to initiate conflict and war have been used numerous times by governments as a foreign policy tactic. During the Asner interview, Alex mentioned Dick Cheney’s effort to start a war with Iran.

“There was a dozen ideas proffered about how to trigger a war,” said Pulitzer Prize-winning New Yorker reporter Seymour Hersh in 2008. “The one that interested me the most was why don’t we build — we in our shipyard — build four or five boats that look like Iranian PT boats. Put Navy seals on them with a lot of arms. And next time one of our boats goes to the Straits of Hormuz, start a shoot-up.”

Cheney’s idea was rejected, but it was eerily reminiscent of the so-called Gulf of Tonkin incident that never occurred but resulted in the Vietnam War that ultimately claimed the lives of more than 58,000 Americans and around three million Southeast Asians.

The Gulf of Tonkin pretext established a pattern of “continuous government lies passed on by pliant mass media,” write Jeff Cohen and Norman Solomon.

In addition to Cheney’s idea of luring Iran into a conflict, the Bush administration devised a plan to trick Saddam Hussein into attacking a U.S. spy plane disguised as a United Nations aircraft.

“The US was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in UN colors. If Saddam fired on them, he would be in breach,” Bush wrote in a memorandum to then British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

It would be extraordinary if publishing this information here, or any where, is going to change the world. It certainly wont stop the warmongers from their frenzy of killing, maiming, psychologically damaging and demeaning millions of innocent people. It might, however, convince more and more of the public of the truth about what is going on around us.

It seems that we  are way past the general public having any influence as the elected leaders, no matter whom, are controlled and /or the elections are becoming increasingly under the control of corrupt processes.

One can but try!

IRAN – Does it deserve a Fair Hearing?

English: Tehran, Iran: City Theatre. Pahlavi e...

Image via Wikipedia

I believe so.

Israel has clearly demonstrated and enacted its policies of aggression, violence, invasion and occupation.

Indeed, the US, UK, France and NATO, together with the UN not far behind in encouragement, if not direct involvement, have also clearly demonstrated and enacted these same policies.

Iran has not been shown to be involved in any conflicts except the Iraq war instigated by the US. They may have voiced opposition to Israel. They may have been insulted by the US  interference in their country. They may be insulted by the sanctions and sanctimonious compulsory searches for nuclear warfare capability imposed by the UN.

For all the countries fully equipped for nuclear warfare to insist that Iran must be prevented from the same ‘privilege’ is hypocritical and unjustified. This is IF, in fact, Iran desires the capability.

But the assumption that they are striving for and could achieve nuclear capability and that they would be any less aware of the suicidal result of a nuclear first strike than any other already-equipped country, does not justify the verbal attack, the actual threat of war and certainly not justify actual war.

It is simply the continuation of the warmongering by the above mentioned “usual suspects” to achieve total control in the Middle East.

This brings us to the ‘Hidden Agendas’ post ” Iran’s readiness to talk over its controversial nuclear program! “.

Tehran has reiterated its readiness to resume nuclear talks with major powers to discuss the country’s controversial nuclear program. That’s while Israel has stepped up its stance against Iran – with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying Tehran’s aggression must be stopped. He repeated his claims that Iran was behind recent bombings allegedly targeting Israelis in India, Georgia and Thailand.

Israel says there are links between the incidents – despite authorities in India and Thailand saying there’s no such evidence, and Iran denying any involvement. Tehran in turn says Israel is waging a psychological war that many fear might pave the way for military action. Political analyst Chris Bambery explains why he thinks Israel is acting as it is.

A post and video well worth viewing – here.
